Don't fucking act like you gave a shit about passing minimum wage. You have stated that you are a business owner and not exactly a conscientious one at that. You don't want it, never wanted it. You just want to pile on dems wherever possible to turn people to the crazy that is Republiicanism.

You are a bad faith actor jumping in here with your own ends. GTFO.

What reasons do they give for opposing the increase? I was reading an article earlier today about Joe Manchin, for example, which argues that his positions on various issues are based very much on what will play back in West Virginia, and are carefully tested with focus groups and the like.
Manchin, I figured would do that. I also expected some southern dems to do it. But that wasn't the case here. It was New England states, states that SHOULD have been on board. Not a single one of the ex-confederate states did this to us, with the exception of W. Vrrginia. This is entirely self-inflicted.

I know, all it would have taken was one. so harping on about them isn't that useful, but dammit, we don't have much time to try and fix what Trump broke, let alone try to build a firewall against the future fuckery, and here we are with the stimulus bill, of all things, and they are hurting us with even that?

That's why I'm asking. Have none of them offered any explanations for their votes, which must have been unwelcome to many of the people on whose support they depend for reelection?

The future is now: face recognition AI can today identify your political orientation by just looking at your faces. It correctly classified 72% of the photos given between liberal and conservative people, which is high above the 50% random threshold.

I'm sure this will not be used for terrible purposes. :)

The point was getting the COVID relief bill through *now*, because unemployment payments expire the middle of this month, and we still have a pandemic to fight, which this bill helps fund. As of today it passed the Senate, and after a quick trip back to the House to pass it again with the changes, it will become law.

Nobody has forgotten the $15 min wage. They just could not get it through with this bill, and they will try again later this year. Doing it as a stand-alone bill will force everyone to be on the record about it, and become campaign fodder if they vote against it.

pfft...campaign fodder is nothing when half the population doesn't care to learn details.

ETA: To me, campaign fodder is less than nothing given that people are subjected to all sorts of lies during campaigns and tune most our or worse, just dismiss completely. People need help desperately. They aren't going to give a rat's ass about campaign fodder.

This offers an interesting insight into the role played by "royal experts" in the media ecosystem created around the British Royal Family.

YouTube pranksters managed to scam two separate "royal experts" into giving interviews on their reaction to the Harry and Meghan interview on Oprah before it was broadcast, with entertaining results as they responded to more and more off the wall questions.

The experts' defence is that it's general practice for them to provide "filler clips" that can be dropped in during live coverage, as appropriate, immediately after the event, presumably while they're gathering their thoughts on the actual interview, once they watch it.

So their real expertise is in playing the role of the royal expert.

I have decided to not use their service at all this year. Or at least as less as possible.
My goal is to buy as much as possible local this year to support local/regional merchants during the Corona crisis.
No need to stuff the Bezoses of this world any more than strictly necessary IMHO.

Right. Which is why you need to protect it. The wolves are at the door. These are not your average wolves. They aren't going to mount an all-out assault. They are going to try and eat you bit by bit, so they can negate any protest. Nobble, nibble, nibble.

They will have it easy if they can take a little bit from you each year/quarter or so on until you don't even recognize the NHS and wonder just how they gained complete control over your life or death.
