It used to be my go-to store for tools and appliances, but these days I only visit once in a great while looking for clearance items.

Sears sold off the Craftsman brand, although they still sell it in-store - but you can find it at Kmart stores now too, and occasionally elsewhere. Or direct from the Craftsman website. They're maybe not made quite as well as they used to be from what I've heard (isn't everything?), but they're still loads better than something you'd get from, say, Harbor Freight, or the auto parts store, and they still have lifetime warranties.

The chairman of Sears has made a 4.6 billion dollar bid for the company. The Reuters article says it may or may not be accepted. The news reports sure don't make anything very clear to me. Why or why not would his offer be accepted? If it is not accepted are they closing down 80 stores or closing everything down? It's all a mystery to me. Some news outlet should write an in depth story about it seeing how Sears is an iconic part of American history.

Back in the day Sears and Roebuck sent out catalogs to every household in the country (as far as I knew) it was very exciting. This was after the time when you could order pre-fab houses but the catalogs of my childhood had everything else anyone could possibly imagine (as far as I knew). Our mothers would send in orders and every time a UPS truck came down down the street we'd all hold our breath. If it stopped in front of your house the excitement was almost unbearable. When Bruce and I moved into this house we got our first washer and dryer from Sears.
