I mean it looks pretty obviously like a rocket part to me - I really struggle to think of what it could have possibly come from OTHER than a rocket, as is being implied. Given its shape and size, I don't think it's super likely to have come off an airplane, not without the rest of the airplane laying around the nearby area. And if the statement is true and not an exaggeration that it was glowing hot when it was found, well that pretty much eliminates any possibility besides it having re-entered Earth's atmosphere from space.
