Narcissism is, put simply, selfishness and self-absorption to a point that starts to interfere with your daily life, work, and relationships. Everyone has selfish moments, but narcissists typically prioritize themselves and their own needs and feelings over others' most or all of the time rather than just now and then. That's like, probably as close to an "official" definition of narcissism as you can get I guess.

Sarah Z started exploring online videos and discussions about narcissism and perceived narcissists in their lives, and found out that the longer you stay immersed, the more the topic becomes like a literal radicalization pipeline. Slowly, people shift away from talking about narcissists as excessively selfish humans and more like some kind of creepypasta monster - with eyes that "turn black" and hypnotize you, and use special mind powers that can literally drain "life-energy" from people around them to survive and even have canonical enemies, special other kinds of people called Dark Empaths, who can fight and win real actual psychic battles against them. And if you stay in the pipeline long enough you eventually find out that narcissists are actually possessed by plain old demons, specifically a kind called a "Jezebel spirit" that was invented by evangelical Christians to justify misogyny, which usually infects women but can also infect men. It gets really weird.

I've struggled every single year of my life with Christmas. My mom had me at 20 seconds after midnight on Christmas morning and I haven't enjoyed it a bit since.

The nurses wanted my mother to name me "Noel", which would be kind of a non-gendered name. I will always love my mom more because she didn't listen.

This year, I'm double NOT Noel-ish. We elected the Grinch and I even have relatives who are happy about it.
