Reluctantly
This reminds me of a train trip in China. An old lady and a soldier were shouting at each other and a tour guide got up and went over, said something, and they two sat down and shut up.

I asked and they explanation: “I told them they were embarrassing China in front of westerners.”

Face is very important in China. Losing face is mortifying.

Which is why leopards have an all you can eat buffet in America.

Math nerds can be so vulgar.

Cox–Zucker machine
Name origin
The name sounds similar to the obscenity "cocksucker". This was a deliberate choice by Cox and Zucker, who, as first-year graduate students at Princeton University in 1970, conceived of the idea of coauthoring a paper for the express purpose of enabling this joke.

There is a thing called Paris Syndrome that afflicts eastern tourists to Paris, most commonly Japanese, who visit the city with certain inflated expectations based on media representations in their home countries but are so profoundly disappointed when they experience the real place that they fall into a psychotic manic-depressive state.

I have that whenever I visit a Cheesecake Factory franchise.

I saw Frank at a Mardi Gras shindig last weekend and said hello. He answered, asked how I was doing, and asked about the other Khamon; so I know he knew who I was even though he never looked at me. It was kind of like talking to a blind person. Then he told me how his pace maker started acting up and the doctor told him that his heart wasn't beating. I was thinking yeah, you had a heart attack and died, but didn't say it out loud.

Justin, the current Lodge Ruler, came over and said hello. Frank never looked at him either but told him that it was a nice event and he was having a good time and tried to attend functions whenever he could. Then Justin looked at me and said "it's okay" so I wandered off and talked to the living people. Frank was sitting in a chair, listening to the music, later that evening, but then when I looked back around he was gone. It is nice to tell this story to a group of people who won't think I've gone off the rail.

That whole Fyre Festival business was 8 years ago.

8 years.

Just thought I'd point that out, for no reason in particular. 😇

I get the strangest messages from my Linkedin profile.

someone who has now sent me two more messages congratulating me on my style said:
Argent,

I'm [redacted], and I work in franchise development for Massage Envy - the leading massage & skin care franchise which is now expanding in Texas.

Your experience at Coonspiracy caught my interest, as I think you'd be a good fit for franchise ownership.

I think I'd pay to watch a video of that interview.

"Describe an incident in which you needed to resolve some kind of crisis. How did you handle it, and what did you learn from the experience?"

You ever drive on a highway and see a road sign that makes you scratch your head and say "what the heck?" Well, one such sign showed up on a freeway in Fresno, CA.
