A team of researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has been refining and combining several advanced technologies over the past six years to create a revolutionary platform to treat a vast array of neurological diseases and mental illnesses. It could not only prove more effective than traditional methods, but also negate the need for complex procedures that carry their own set of risks.

It's called Circulatronics, and the idea is to use a fusion of electronics and biological transport to autonomously implant bioelectronics within the body – completely avoiding the need for surgery to enable modern forms of treatment.
So a step up from cracking open people's heads to jam Neuralink-like devices in there. Since this looks to be the next stage in the treatment of a number of brain-related issues, I guess this is an improvement.

I ran across this article, it was of interest since I have been battling lupus since my mid-20's. Also of interest because the oncologist told us that the leukemia/t-cell lymphoma that my husband had was probably because of the Epstein-Barr virus.

It's interesting what they are learning about viruses now and how they affect you later in life.

The first smackdown for Texas AG Paxton's MAHA lawsuit against Tylenol.

A Texas Judge has rejected a request from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to issue a temporary order barring Tylenol’s maker, Kenvue, from claiming amid litigation that the pain and fever medication is safe for pregnant women and children, according to court documents.

In records filed Friday, District Judge LeAnn Rafferty, in Panola County, also rejected Paxton’s unusual request to block Kenvue from distributing $400 million in dividends to shareholders later this month.

The denials are early losses for Paxton in a politically charged case that hinges on the unproven claim that Tylenol causes autism and other disorders—a claim first introduced by President Trump and his anti-vaccine health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

She is wrong. He intends for people to simply write a check for healthcare which will bankrupt insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, equipment companies, transportation services, and pharmacies. Most of us will die but he doesn't care about that either. Ideally, the money will flow directly to healthcare bypassing insurance companies altogether. But his vision is for the money to flow directly to him.

Dr. Fang provides a gift link to a story at The Atlantic about RFK, Jr. and his plans for destroying remaking American health care.

Gosh. If only there was some scheme someone somewhere had come up with where you don't have private health insurers -- like something that has a long track record of success on many levels. You could give it a snappy name like, "Universal Health Care" or something.

OMG. It suddenly dawns on me -- we could have universal health care in short order if we let him call it Trumpcare!

Amazing.

James Ip, a cardiologist at Weill Cornell Medical College and New York–Presbyterian Hospital, detailed the strange tale in the New England Journal of Medicine over the weekend. The man’s bed alerted him that he had an unusually slow heartbeat, prompting a trip to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with a life-threatening complete heart block. Thankfully, doctors successfully treated his condition with a pacemaker.

“These direct-to-consumer devices have ushered in a new era of medicine when patients are now empowered to help diagnose their arrhythmias,” Ip told Gizmodo in an email.

Bleh, my new Doctor suggested I switch to Fomotodine from Omeprozol for my stupid GERD problems and it was doing ok, with occasional moments of "maybe not", but it was super bad this morning and now I just want to go back to Omeprozol because I basically never had problems while taking the Omeprozol, but the Doc also says its not good for long term.

But it also feels like basically all medicines are "not good long term". So like, how not good are we talking here Doc, because spending basically an hour coughing up shit and feeling vaguely like choking sucks fucking ass.

OMG, a friend bought me a Shiatsu massage cushion, which I put on my office chair and why, why, why didn't I know about these before? This thing is fantastic. It has heat, rollers and vibration. Wish I had one of these when I was working full time and sitting in a chair 10 hours a day!

I wasn’t aware these things existed either. When you said seat cushion that massages and vibrates, I was picturing a cushion you sit on and thought, hmm 🤔 haha

I just looked it up. I sometimes have back issues, always sitting in a crooked manner, or after all that shovelling, etc. I could really use one of those!

My self-indulgence for the year was a full-on massage chair.

This contraption sells for $11,999 at Costco (!!!), but I bought a very slightly used one for $1500.

It is, as the cool kids say, Da Bomb.

Make sure you get one with the rollers and vibrate and not just vibrate - those rollers were like getting a full on massage on my back, plus the heat is nice on a cold day.

Have a beer, get vaccinated. Only in these stupid times would it be considered controversial. Or necessary.

I can't deal with the nonsense any more. I'm going to move into cave somewhere and wait this shit out.

Federal officials today announced an unprecedented overhaul of the US childhood immunization schedule, paring the number of universally recommended immunizations from 17 to 11.

The new vaccination policy, which takes effect immediately, is modeled after the schedule used by Denmark. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will continue to recommend 11 shots for all children, six others will be recommended only for children deemed to be at high risk of infection, said the agency’s acting director, Jim O’Neill.

A third group of vaccines will be available through “shared clinical decision-making” with medical providers.
Public health experts immediately decried the change. Experts said there’s no reason to change a system that has prevented 1.1 million deaths over the past 30 years.

“Abandoning the U.S. evidence-based process is a dangerous and potentially deadly decision for Americans,” said Jason M. Goldman, MD, president of the American College of Physicians. “The evidence is clear that vaccines prevent deaths, hospitalizations, and spread of disease.”
We don't work with evidence anymore.
