Elon Musk wants to create his own semiconductor manufacturing plant in Texas; he named his brainchild the Terafab.

This monstrosity, initial investment is about $17bn. and later will cost up to $119 bn., will have 10x the area of the Gigafab.

The goal is in the end to produce in one year 50x the global production of 2026.

Why? Because Musk needs tons of chips: for Tesla, robots and a Level II civilization on the Kardashev scale and putting AI datacenters into earth orbit. No joke. It should produce chips, memory and package processors with 1 Terawatt as annual compute.

Companies involved are SpaceX, Tesla, Intel. First a prototype will be build in the Gigafactory in Texas. The real building should then be located in Grimes county, total size of 9 square kilometers.
