What's funny about this is that the repulsive reality of people like Musk, Trump and more recently Stockton Rush is now doing the same thing to the concept of the "super-talented, wealthy ubermensch entrepreneur".

I think there is definitely such thing as the super talented, wealthy entrepreneur.... but the wise ones stay out of the public eye. There is a reason why most billionaires are largely unrecognizable to the public. Musk's out of control ego forced him into the public eye which of course lead to him making a giant fool out of himself.

Agreed. Zuck is many things, but I don't think he's a narcissist or an attention craver like Musk is. I'm willing to bet Zuck even wishes he could vanish sometimes. Meanwhile, Musk just seems to live in terror he's not the fairest one of them all.

I definitely think Musk is smarter than Trump but that's a very low bar. Musk is definitely not the genius he marketed himself as, and is very, very VERY prone to stupid, impulsive behavior; but I don't think he's a total buffoon in the way Trump is. They are both massive narcissistic attention hogs though.

The site formerly known as Twitter added a five-second delay when a user clicked on a shortened link to the New York Times, Facebook and other sites Musk commonly attacks, a Washington Post analysis found

Users who clicked a link on Musk’s website, now called X, for one of the targeted websites were made to wait about five seconds before seeing the page, according to tests conducted Tuesday by The Washington Post.

The delayed websites included X’s online rivals Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky and Substack, as well as the Reuters wire service and the Times. All of them have previously been singled out by Musk for ridicule or attack.

On Tuesday afternoon, hours after this story was first published, X began reversing the throttling on some of the sites, dropping the delay times back to zero. It was unknown if all the throttled websites had normal service restored.

If I won some lottery and suddenly had like several million dollars - not to say billions - I could think of a hundred different things to conceivably do with that money, some of it selfish and some of it not, but NOWHERE on that list is "spend some money f*cking with people I don't like".

But as earnestly as I say that, maybe it's just....easy for me to say as a non-rich person. Maybe when you have just so much money that all of your needs are taken care of and then all of your reasonable wants are taken care of and then all your unreasonable wants are taken care of and you still have an entire small industrialized nation's GDP worth of money left in your bank account(s), there's nothing LEFT to do but hurt or spite people you don't like, so that's just what you gravitate to doing.

I would hate to ever be in that kind of situation.
