They're talking about replacing his unsecured debt with debt secured against his shares in Tesla. Secured loans are always cheaper than unsecured ones, even if you're just someone like me, borrowing money secured against the value of my apartment.

Musk was evidently crushed in front of a real-life crowd last night.

It was at a Dave Chappelle comedy show in San Francisco; and near the end of his routine for absolutely no discernible reason he brought Elon Musk on stage as an unexpected special guest, telling the crowd to "make some noise for the richest man in the world" - but the "noise" they made was NOT good noise. And keep in mind that these are self-selected Chappelle fans, so they're anti-trans like Musk at the very least, but even with that being the case they were absolutely brutal and did not let up, ever. Chappelle tried to smooth it over with some jokes and the crowd laughed at those when he told them, but then immediately went back to booing whenever Elon so much as lifted his microphone, and at the end of it all Chappelle was very clearly frustrated with the crowd about it.

Not "suspending", mind, but deleting them. For "copyright infringement". What I found most interesting was the replies to one belligerent Muskfan/troll, in which people noted when they had stopped liking Musk. Many of them cited the incident in Thailand, where he accused one of the rescuers of being a pedophile. I'd forgotten all about that, because I wasn't paying any attention to Musk back then, but apparently it made quite an impact on other people's opinion of him.

That was the first time I really noticed Musk, and concluded he's a thoroughly nasty piece of work.

As I recall, the guy supervising the rescue was a very experienced caver and cave rescuer. Musk, without having visiting the scene, offered the use of one of his high-tech gadgets that he said would get the boys out. The caver said thanks, but no thanks, it wouldn't work because reasons, and Musk threw a tantrum and accused him of being a paedophile, presumably because that's the only reason Musk can think of to explain why a middle-aged European man would want to live in Thailand.

It was maybe better publicised over here because the cave rescuer was a Brit.

Same here. I did not have an opinion on him personally, and I thought the electric cars were great. I guess if I want to be honest I maybe had a very slight bias against him just because of the way people liked to gush about him, but that's a me thing. But then that whole thing with the cave diver happened and I really started to dislike him.

It wasn't even the insult he chose or his reasoning for using it. It was just that here was the first time there had been a public pushback against one of his ideas, and the way he threw a tantrum over it like that, I was like - okay, one day this guy is going to be a serious problem.
