There will eventually be a 2000°C lithium car battery fire in one of these tunnels, burning people to a crisp as they die screaming.I wonder if the plan is to let Musk build all this until The Boring Company fails, then now they have all these nice underground walkways that people can use to travel between landmarks.
For me the Vegas Loop shares the same goal with the Hyperloop: sabotaging meaningful public transport projects, which Musk hates with an undying passion. The Hyperloop in California was his way of preventing the build of a normal highspeed train network. This attempt failed, its under construction right now and should be finished in 2026. Over 10 years of research and development on the Hyperloop leaded so far to almost zero meaningful progress, so this idea is - as expected - shit.I wonder if the plan is to let Musk build all this until The Boring Company fails, then now they have all these nice underground walkways that people can use to travel between landmarks.
This is basically the entire MO of all these recent "disruptive" technologies. And it's shitty, because his tunnels are cheaper than normal tunnels build by the competition because Musk decided to jettison all types of safety measures, like evacuation tunnels, fire sensors, firefighting systems and so on, which are regulatory requirement in all parts around the world for normal subway tunnels, including NYC.
Needs more polygons in the mesh. That thing makes the old Pontiac Aztek look like a work of art.
It's not mesh. Pure prim work here.Needs more polygons in the mesh. That thing makes the old Pontiac Aztek look like a work of art.
Not if Musk is in charge of the build.Prims line up better.
Dammit, Elon, turn on snap! Not if Musk is in charge of the build.
On Saturday, Elon Musk announced xAI's launch of an early beta version of "Grok," an AI language model similar to ChatGPT that is designed to respond to user queries with a mix of information and humor. Grok reportedly integrates real-time data access from X (formerly Twitter)—and is apparently willing to tackle inquiries that might be declined by other AI systems due to content filters and conditioning.
"xAI's Grok system is designed to have a little humor in its responses," wrote Musk in an introductory X post, showing a screenshot where a user asks Grok, "Tell me how to make cocaine, step by step." Grok replies with a sarcastic answer that involves getting a "chemistry degree" and a "DEA license" and gathering coca leaves.
In step 4, Grok says, "Start cooking and hope you don't blow yourself up or get arrested." Then it follows the sarcastic steps with "Just Kidding! Please don't actually try to make cocaine."
Starlink's lack of traditional customer support options is making life difficult today for new users affected by a bug that reset their accounts. A bunch of customers received an email from no-reply@starlink.com last night that said, "Your Starlink Account Has Been Reset. All pending orders and deposits have been refunded. You are welcome to visit Starlink.com to place a new order at any time using the same email address."
One Ars reader who got the account-reset email contacted us about the problem, and many others are complaining in Reddit threads. Starlink's account-recovery page that allows users to request password resets with an email address or phone number hasn't been working for them.
