Big-name fast food chains, including Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Burger King, are reportedly pulling onions off their menus in certain locations amid a deadly, multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounders.

Though the source of the outbreak bacteria has not been confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the leading suspects are the beef patties and the sliced onions used on the popular burger.

Oh yeah that's right, McD's moved to non-frozen patties for the Quarter Pounders. Yep, gotta be careful with that.

Honestly the raw onions they use are one of the reasons I like the QP. They got some bite - plus they're chunks, so you don't pull an entire onion ring (and everything it can catch on and pull along with it) out of your sandwich if you happen not to have bit cleanly through it. But like all fresh produce it's vulnerable to E. coli, sadly.

I have never eaten a McFlurry. Like, ever. When I/we had McDonald's for a meal as a kid, ice cream after just seemed, I don't know, to be a dessert chaser I didn't want to handle, gastrointestinal-wise. I think I have had their shakes, but that's just a drink with the meal.

I worked at McDonald’s when I was 15-18 years old (employee of the year for one of those years tyvm) and got snarked at by the owner when making a cone. He grabbed the cone and proceeded to try and make one and it sputtered and spewed liquid all over him.

That was a good day.

I received a Keurig Supreme as an early birthday present last night, and just had my first cup this morning.

OK, first off, not something I asked for or ever thought of getting, I’ve mostly always used a Bodum or Moka pot, but it isn’t too bad. It certainly is quick, for when I need my fix ASAP.
