So I’m watching tv, hankering for a little sometin’ somethin’ and get up, walk over to the fridge - nothing. Rummage through the pantry and find a bag of “Indian Snacks” I had picked up on sale. I figured they’d be curry flavoured (they’re just fried shapes mixed with chips and nuts).

Anyway, I grabbed a handful and threw a bunch into my unsuspecting mouth. It was like biting into crunchy fried cayenne bits. I just about died. My eyes and nose were leaking and I scoffed down some cottage cheese to put out the fire.

I’m Im not hungry anymore :(

I've always been a big pickle fan but since I got COVID and lost a great deal of my sense of smell, pickles are one of the foods that I still really enjoy. I have about 4 jars of different types of pickles in my fridge and this is what I snack on at night. Also, I've recently lost about 40 lbs and eating pickles for a snack certainly does not hurt that as they don't have all that many calories. I buy the Mount Olive "no sugar added" as well as sour dills. 🥒

Mount Olive pickles are the best! I use the dill Sandwich Stuffers with sea salt in the turkey and cheese sandwiches I make for work. Their bread and butter pickles are good too.

Nowadays I see it most often called country-fried steak, interestingly. I think I like that name better.

My European grandmother just called it schnitzel. :D
A schnitzel is usually a thin slice of meat that has been thinned by pounding it with a meat tenderizer. It's then typically breaded and fried.

So if it's not thinned-out, then it's not a schnitzel.

I like Chef John because his recipes are pretty simple but better than most of the stuff you see on allrecipes. Here is one I really like for meatloaf that got removed for some reason but I saved it as an image (Evernote didn't work).

I was in the mood for some Thai yellow curry. I got some with shrimp from a new place near here. It was really good. I was amused they had their choice of spiciness as mild, medium, hot, thai hot and kill me please. My stomach has been upsetting me so I got medium which was just right for now.

I went food shopping this afternoon and amongst the frozen and prepped meals, I picked up a premade "calzone", which was a bit larger than a hot pocket*. It was spinach and cheese, which until I ate it for dinner a little while ago, I had not known was exactly what I needed. *pats tummy*


* Since I've been home from the hospital/rehab, I haven't been eating as much per meal/serving. Last week I picked up a meatball sub (sandwich) with some fries, and nearly couldn't finish it (I had to toss some of the fries out).
