LG officially announces its battery-powered air purifier mask

LG has officially announced a portable air purifier that you wear on your face like a mask. The PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier uses a pair of replaceable filters similar to what you’d find in LG’s range of air purifiers for the home, pairing them with battery-powered fans to help you breathe. LG says the device has sensors to detect when you’re breathing in or out, and adjusts the fans’ speeds accordingly.

Disclaimer:

It’s important to note, however, that LG’s press release doesn’t make any claims about the mask slowing the spread of the coronavirus, including whether it filters air as you exhale as well as inhale. LG declined to comment to The Verge when we asked about this directly, and said that it was waiting until certification and testing is complete to give full details.

That might not be to far off. We started with whatever, moved to more data on what worked and now it is not hard to find masks that are akin to bumper stickers. Hopping to electronics is next, especially since one of the problems is they are blocking face id.

One was an idea a decade ago that apple should develop an ar solution. Cue apple glass. There is another part of the idea that strays into classified stuff so I will see what happens. If it comes to be I might have to conclude the cia bugged my brain.

Yes, for a patent but we are talking about preliminary concepts. In the example I cited (which is far from the only time it has happened) I predicted a product that would be perfect for a particular company more than a decade before that company even announced it.

Apple had not even come out with their phone yet and the stock price was low so there was no good reason to pick them. Although if things follow like I planned the 3rd major redesign of apple glass will be interesting. Also look for a, um, government entity, to be involved in an expanded version of the product.

Oy. I bought 4 of the 2nd gen as xmas gifts in 2006 cuz it seemed everyone was asking for one. I think they were $80USD, but I was not making a lot back then. I had to hold off on a computer purchase I was planning until mid-2007.

I had the idea of LED traffic lights when I was in high school more than 33 years ago. I kinda wish I'd have known to patent that sucker.
