Colonel Sanders' fried chicken recipe has won the hearts of many over the years. But up until now, the hype around KFC's illustrious menu item was something vegetarians obviously couldn't be apart of. The chain is now giving a new recipe a try, sans chicken.

The company announced this week that it was testing a chicken-like vegetarian option in the UK. There's no doubt it will use KFC's signature (and secret) blend of 11 herbs and spices too, so trust that it will still be the real deal.
How does "It's soy-lickin' good" sound?

Given that Trump's administration wants to turn our meat inspection processes into Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, this may become a viable, safer alternative.

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian so I'm interested. I've always enjoyed their coleslaw.

Well. McDonalds serves cardboard burgers since many years, so yeah, why not.

The name of the franchise will keep many vegetarians away, even if they know that is on the menu. Outside of initial interest it will wind up being a veggie option when the rest of their group wants to go there.

I have yet to meet a vegetarian who was wild about seeing people eating things with bones/greese around them when they were trying to eat (also knowing the table/chairs probably have the same all over). A thing I went to had a potluck after and there was an established tradition of someone having a bucket of KFC. I was not thrilled with the idea but knew if those bones were not cleaned up every time the person whose house it was would have banned the person from coming back if she was feeling nice that day.

You're right, Kara. I wouldn't got there by myself or with other vegetarians just because they have fake chicken - which is probably fried in the same oil as the real kind. But if I was with a group of chicken eaters, well I must admit I am a bit curious.

They might not want to go to a Southern Culture on the Skids Concert either if they play Eight Piece Box. They throw fried chicken into the audience.
