President Of Nation With Reusable Rockets And Reciprocal Visas Says No Way To Improve On Wheels And Walls – The Out And Abouter

Grateful to have that cleared up, the U.S. government set to work destroying SpaceX’s reusable rockets, and the millions of aircraft created over the last 115 years; as well as all boats, hovercraft, and mag-lev trains – all consigned to the scrap heap for being vapid distractions from the traditional and completely unimprovable wheel.

They then proceeded to annul every tax treaty, trade agreement, reciprocal visa arrangement, and strategic alliance the United States has ever made; for being redundant wastes of time and money that pale in comparison to the classically nuanced – and technically advanced – approach to global geopolitics: the vertical obstruction.

I never could understand that. He is personally the furthest from a christian candidate they could want (unless they are looking to him getting impeached and Pence getting in, in which case they should hope for him to get out). Can they name ONE thing he has done for them? The closest is his going after groups they hate (LGBTs, immigrants, etc) but any R would do that.

Except, if the reason for their alliance is to force women back into being chattel, because then it makes perfect sense.

Like I said, any R would have pushed Brett through and the other stuff donnie has done. I see no compelling reason for them to like him over another R.

Trump is the natural standard-bearer for right-wing White Evangelicals. Wealthy white men are in power, subjugating women, gays and ethnic minorities. The world's resources are there to be exploited for their use. This world view was slipping away, but Trump has brought it back again. He's their hero.

Maybe they thought it was slipping away but I am still lost. I have seen no end to Rs who either did the same things or wanted to. Why support him when there are people who would do the exact same things and who better aligns with what they profess?

Am I missing something here?

Probably because Trump has no filter. He will gladly do things more experienced politicians may find politically uncomfortable to do.

Trump has no filters and speaks informally, as if he's having a conversation with his audience rather than reciting a scripted speech. If you ignore the content of what he says, he sounds honest and guileless. It is a marked contrast with the highly scripted speeches that so many politicians deliver. Even if every word they utter is true, they sound false.

One of the reasons that the "Crooked Hillary" meme resonated with so many people is that Clinton is not the best speaker; her tone is quite stiff. For people who didn't like her anyway, it's easy to interpret that delivery as false and insincere. For people who DO like her, we simply recognize that's not her strong suit and take the words at face value.

People respond strongly to tone far more than is general recognized. Tone directly touches the emotions, whereas content has to route through the brain and those messages arrive later (if at all, for some people). I don't think there's any getting around this, and my personal solution is to consider "performance" to be a critical job qualification for president. It's not a "nice to have", it's a "must have" in terms of winning over the electorate.

In a perfect world, I'm sure the Evangelicals would prefer a Pence or another one of their own as President. This isn't a perfect world though, and what they have to work with is Trump...

...which, as it turns out, is not a bad thing for them because, despite his personal failings, he has also shown himself ready and willing to enact their agenda. He is a willing ally, occupying the seat of primary power. Yes, having one of their own in that seat would be preferable, but while they effectively have it by proxy anyway, it's in their best interests not to take any actions that might risk their enemies taking control.

They love Trump because he's an authoritarian, and they can't help but worship at the feet of consolidated power. They hate liberalism because it focuses on individualism, which weakens the power structures that organised religions free off of.

Not just that.. he uses the right trigger words.
Tone certainly matters, but I'm thinking now that trigger words/phrases are central to creating the tone, possibly more than anything we'd usually think of as tone. People are entirely willing to betray everything they say they believe in just because somebody uses a word or phrase that has some implicit meaning to them. It's truly terrifying, in every way.

I don't know. It seems to me like every other Republican could have come up with a better candidate than Brett. That's what was so disgusting about the way they all pushed him through anyway.

Any candidate who could deliver like Will Rogers would be pretty attractive. Trump is no Will Rogers. Be I guess there are people who talk like Trump? And think he sounds down home?

Someone should write an article about that. It must have been much different in the '40s before TV or even more in the 1910's or earlier before radio how people decided who they want to be president.

The frustrating thing is the shutdown has very real effects here in DC.

The first is (hopefully) common knowledge. Some people are working without pay while others are not working without pay. Neither alternative is that appealing!

The second is a lot of businesses rely on those federal workers downtown. A few years ago a shutdown forced my favourite restaurant near my office to close. To this day the space has sat vacant. This then ripples out to other businesses and employees that have nothing to do with the feds.

The DC city government is pretty intertwined with the federal government, unlike in other places (and yes, we HATE being essentially a vassal state). This morning I was watching a news story that you can not get a marriage license in DC right now (which of course affects more businesses).

For those of us that do have contact with the feds in our work there is a new level of frustration: people not being able to return calls because of this. Which of course ripples into what we are doing.

While DC relies a lot on tourism about the only semi-good thing is January is a slow month for the tourism industry here.
