I'm really in two minds about this.

On the one hand, it's good to see him getting a taste of his own medicine, since he is so fond of fat-shaming and trying to humiliate his opponents with schoolyard taunts.

On the other, though, while I laughed when first I heard Pelosi's remark, too, thinking, "aha.. the biter, bit"" as it were, I don't think I can ignore this point:

but 1) has never denied it or lied about it, and 2) didn't just announced that he was talking Plaquenil (and probably isn't).

You can argue about her use of the word "morbidly" here, but obese is a pretty standard medical term and - BMI scale-wise - it certainly applies to a man who, from his last reported medical exam, is 6'3" (1.9m) and weighs 243lbs (110.2kg).

Sure, I agree, but I've also read often enough -- including posts here and in SLU at times -- about how even well-intentioned and serious public health campaigns can leave even people who know their weight is causing them health problems and are struggling to do something to remedy it feeling pretty bad, even though they agree with the point the campaign is making.

Good points? Sorry, but Pelosi didn't criticize Trump for his weight. She criticized him for taking a drug not approved for the reasons he's taking it, and potentially dangerous to the age and weight groups he's in.

I'm just saying that people generally -- on Twitter and elsewhere -- seem primarily interested in the fact he weighs so much rather in the fact that this is one of the several reasons he should be careful about taking the drug (or, to put it another way, in the fact he's fat rather than that he's reckless about taking the drug despite his weight).

The point could just as well be made about his taking the drug despite his hypertension, since that's a pretty big red light, too, I think, but I doubt it would gained the same attention.

To my mind, the real point is that he's endorsing this non-approved prophylactic regime which we don't know if it help protect him from Covid-19, but we do most certainly know it's downright dangerous for a man in his condition to take, and, if he is actually taking it, his doctor probably agreed only because Trump's physical health is so closely monitored anyway, so if he does start to suffer dangerous side effects, help is always immediately to hand.

He's setting up a fake and dangerous conflict between, on the one hand, experts and scientists who want to keep the country locked down and, on the other, the very stable genius who wants to make everyone safe, and put the country back to work, and would do too, if only these damn scientists would let him administer bleach or hydroxychloroquine or whatever other miracle cure he's thought up.

• Drugs can be prescribed for off-label uses. That's a common, accepted practice as long as it does not violate ethical guidelines. Once a drug is vetted for safety and approved for one use, it is fair game for other ethical uses.
• I haven't seen any news linking obesity or age to risks of this drug's side effects. I think Pelosi was clearly ridiculing him for being fat.
• Trump, Pompeo, and Barr are all turds. In fact, they are fat turds. Is that fat shaming?
• Maybe Pelosi discretely left off the part of him being a turd.
