I knew a person for a time who lived in Texas; they had two different mailing addresses - the actual street address, with the road name and all that, and a "rural route number" address. Either one worked for mail to the same physical location. I thought it was weird but eh.

The USPS is big on resolving address ambiguities so that they can deliver.

I'm a wreck.

I've knocked on some doors and did some GOTV canvassing. Phonebanked a few times. Personally got 2 non-voting friends registered and am going with each to their polls tomorrow (that might be interesting logistically), talked to others and know of at least one other non-midterm voter who is voting tomorrow because I wouldn't shut up. :censored: All blue.

Have a plan to vote in the morning with my daughter and mom...all straight-ticket blue.

I could have done more, but what's over is over.

So much can go wrong. I'm trying to be hopeful, but I'm afraid to be. I"m just a wreck. :(

Do what you can but also take care of yourself. Your health is important and you can't do anything if you make yourself sick via worrying. Once you vote and finish your plans for the day just unplug and do something relaxing. Don't watch the news or read minute by minute exit poll updates, at that point what will happen will happen and there's nothing you can do about it. This is going to be a long process even if it goes incredibly well because the GOP is guaranteed to do whatever they can re: recounts and lawsuits and anything else.

Can't wait to see New Jersey voting machines turn a straight ticket blue into a vote for Ted Cruz.

I hear that. But I have been reflecting, and whatever happens, the fact that an army of resistance has risen up, and banded together, means we win however the vote turns out. Because in the long run we will not be stopped.

Tomorrow is your chance to make Paul cry and make Mitch at least fume. Donald will likely verbally abuse the White House staff even more than usual but that sadly can't be helped and shouldn't stop you.

There are two rules that should govern your actions tomorrow, no matter where you live, as long as it's in the US. No matter WHERE you live:

1. There is NO SUCH THING as a safe district.
2. There is NO SUCH THING as a comfortable lead.

Please vote.

Please? I'll be your friend.

Voted last week! Am concerned about dems taking the latino vote for granted - seen and heard ads run for GOP (Fl) on spanish language tv & radio and none for Dems. Apparently Nelson is evil and DeSantis saved Puerto Rico (according to the ads).

I don't qualify for mail-in voting. In this state you're required to be disabled or homebound or hospitalized or on a military deployment, something like that.

Uh. You're voting, right?

Fuck I don't remember
In FL, the Hispanic vote is generally more difficult to predict than in other states because there is such a large segment of the Cuban community that is pro-GOP. They’ve largely stuck with Trumpism despite the racism. But those voters tend to be registered GOP. Right now all the FL election experts I follow say turnout is huge on both sides and it will (again) come down to the IND vote. Trump won IND by only 4. A large chunk of new IND FL voters are displaced PRs who lean D.

Dems have the early vote margin right now of 24,689 (+0.5).

So there’s a lot of reasons to be hopeful, but it’s going to be a looooong night.

Every time the experts and polls try to make me hopeful I get more anxious. I think it's easier to just be pessimistic for me. I was one of the few people I knew who seriously feared that Trump would become president, and I was right. I'll be glad when tomorrow is over and we know what happened.

Surprise .... I strongly disagree.

There are not many places like DC I will grant you but it is not unusual for a D to get 90+ percent of the vote here. Stories election night are usually about who won the school board or such, the Ds sweeping DC is a given. For anyone doing calling I would REALLY urge you to call somewhere like Virginia rather than call DC. If nobody knows, the presidential candidates do not even BOTHER to electioneer here at all beyond primary season (not that they are here much before that date either). Signs supporting a presidential candidate are rare in DC. We first got the presidential vote in the 50s and not once has our elector gone to anyone other than the D.

This is a real contrast to growing up in NH where it was not unusual for a random resident to personally meet each presidential candidate several times just going about their days in election years. Or when I was living in VA, which is a purple state.
