You no longer have to, but can't you do so if you want to? It's been lifted her for a while now, and I still see plenty of people with masks. Some people are afraid to let their guard down because of the delta variant (a quite understandable concern) and others like the way they didn't get sick from other things while wearing them.
Or would the anti -mask lunatics get hostile if you wore one?
Whoa. Where did I even imply you can't if you want to? Or that anti-maskers would get hostile?

People who don't wear masks when appropriate spread disease. I have a compromised immune system. Others not wearing masks when appropriate put me at higher risk. Meaning, I'll die before those who do not have a compromised immune system because the idiots won't stop spreading germs/viruses/bacteria. Ergo, it was nice knowing you all.

It had to do with other people's irresponsibility. Nothing more.

Masks prevent you from infecting others if you're infected and they're not.

Wolfie's mask protects other Oregonians from her, should she be so unfortunate as to become positive for Covid. They do little to protect her from others, though.

(The main reason everyone masks up in an operating theatre isn't that they're worried they'll catch something from the patient.)
I have been vaccinated. :p

You didn't imply it, but I've read a number of stories, and what I meant to express was that I hope it's not like that where you are.
I have a compromised immune system, too, and that's why I was surprised at the doctor who treats me for it saying it was OK to go maskless.
I hope he's right about the vaccine, but unlessi i find out it prevents you from getting COVID entirely, I'll continue to be careful.

Even though it pisses everyone off and lost me family and friends, I stopped putting everyone else first a long time ago. I can't take care of others, if I don't take care of me first. Now I'm getting too old to take care of others and there is no one to take care of me but me.

As have I! So both of us are at only about 5% or 10% the risk of contracting covid than we would otherwise be, and at far less risk of becoming symptomatic if we do.

Our government here looks almost certain to remove the requirement to wear masks anywhere, at least in England, from July 19, despite the fact infections are rapidly rising, on the grounds that the continuing success of the vaccination programme means that the link between infections and hospitalisation/death has been broken.

Nevertheless, I'll be guided by whatever advice the public health authorities issue at the time about masks and social distancing, whatever the legal requirements may be, and certainly I think wearing one in the autumn, when the flu season starts, is going to be a good idea anyway (apart from anything else, it stops me touching my face).

Here the government lifted almost all restrictions 2 weeks ago.
And now the numbers are climbing again.
What a surprise.

About half of the people over 18 haven't been vaccinated twice yet (only once so far), about 15% refused vaccinations.
And we only started a week ago with children from 12 to 17. The top spreaders at the moment.
And that D variant is spreading much faster than the others.

Keeping distance and washing hands often are as important as ever since the pandemic started.

I don't wear a mask to protect myself. Masks are mostly about source control.

From today's press conference in the UK

Whitty offered a three-part rule of thumb for continuing to wear a mask: in crowded indoor spaces; when required to by an authority; or to make someone else feel comfortable.

He said these situations were all particularly important at a time when “the epidemic is significant and rising”.

Whitty said: “The first is in any situation is indoors and crowded, or indoors with close proximity to other people. And that is because masks help protect other people.”
He added: “The second situation is if I was required to by any competent authority … And the third reason is if someone else was uncomfortable if I did not wear a mask – as a point of common courtesy.”

The chief scientist, Sir Patrick Vallance, endorsed the approach. He added: “Masks are most effective at preventing somebody else catching the disease from you, and they have some effect to prevent you catching it.”

Coronavirus almost certainly came from an animal, not a lab leak, top scientists argue (msn.com)

The coronavirus pandemic almost certainly originated from an animal, probably at a wildlife market in China, and not from a laboratory leak, a group of virus experts said Wednesday.

Theories about a lab leak are almost all based on coincidence, not hard evidence, the group of 20 top experts from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere said.

They had been following discussions -- going all the way to the White House -- about the possibility of a laboratory origin of the virus, and worked together to analyze the evidence.

"I think you can make a pretty strong argument that it didn't leak from a lab," Robert Garry, professor of microbiology and immunology at Tulane Medical School and one of the scientists who signed the paper, told CNN.

The experts lay out the published evidence in a pre-print review posted online.

It is signed by some of the leading experts in coronaviruses and the genetics of viruses, including Kristian Andersen of The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California; evolutionary biologist Michael Worobey of the University of Arizona; Andrew Rambaut of the Institute of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Edinburgh; Stephen Goldstein of the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Utah; Angela Rasmussen of the University of Saskatchewan; Joel Wertheim of the University of California, San Diego; and Jeremy Farrar of Britain's Wellcome Trust.

Many have done their own investigations into the possible origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

"We contend that there is substantial body of scientific evidence supporting a zoonotic (animal) origin for SARS-CoV-2," they wrote.

For an American that article was confusing. Euro apparently translates to soccer. Where were they watching so the virus could spread? The pub?
Pubs or with friends in someone's house. Mostly pubs, I'd think.
