You're right, but I'm also worried about how DT will lock up SCOTUS for the next 50 years while he fiddles with elections in order to become Emperor for Life.

The funny thing is, a lot of his policies are very unpopular even with many of his supporters. A lot of project 2025 will shock and horrify a lot of the internet trolls and white women who supported Trump so heavily. I also know a lot of conservatives who will be shocked and disgusted when Trump makes good on his promise to "end" the war in Ukraine by just surrendering to Russia. A lot of free market people will be mad if Trump's huge tariff passes and a lot of people will be mad when imported goods get a lot more expensive.

What scares me the most is some of the stuff that right wing media will be able to just lie about and cover up from his supporters. For example if the 2028 election is a huge scam, most right wingers will be none the wiser since the media they trust won't tell them. Same with women dying from emergency pregnancy complications.

I think with the way subconscious bias works for many Americans, a hypothetical lady candidate would have to be profoundly perfect to get elected. Harris wasn't PERFECT and that was enough to beat her. Any missteps will be punished a lot more dearly.

...this is also true of Hillary. Did she fuck things up on the campaign trail? YES. Would they have stopped her if she was a man? NO.

We saw some of that with Obama. The right lost their minds because he wore a freaking tan suit. I do think we established that sexism is stronger than racism, but Obama had to be quite strong to win.

Harris ran a beautiful campaign. There was for a time hope, and very real chance of things meaningfully improving. The country failed and was imperfect.

I want to have the missing 20 million votes explained. How all the ground game data trends and patterns were amazingly wrong. The inexplicable failure of 1 + 1 to equal 2. If it is truly the will of the people, then so be it. I however reserve my right to undying contempt for them.

I want to have some reason not to just check out on this fucking mess. My wife would miss me. Aside from that, I don't know if I want to live in this world any more. It was nice to have had hope for a little while at least.

I suspect that the reason they stopped working is because far too many people can't be effed to answer them. It's not that basic statistical math stopped working, it's that we are getting a huge response bias. I think this will just get worse because public attitudes towards the polls are getting worse. It's a downward spiral. I think they still "work" but the margin for error has to account for how many people refuse to answer...
