I know that you have the winning point of view. No doubt it's the intelligent point of view given all of the players involved. We have Saudi Arabia glued to one hand and Israel glued to the other. Well, there's always Kipling's related poem, Recessional, which is particularly sombre when you recall it was written for the Queen-Empress' Diamond Jubilee. That would work

But I think the best one for Iran was written somewhat earlier:

You always have candidates who know they have no hope of winning the nomination. At most they are hoping to get attention for the VP slot or another post.

The republicans ran Ted Cruise and Ben Carson, and Trump ran as a republican. Now, I detest, despise, loathe, and generally dislike the corporate democrats and the DNC in general, but I'd take any of the running Democrats over what was on the 15-16 GOP clown car. I have to admit I know next to nothing about some of the dems...and I'd still take them over the GOP I do know.

As to why there are so many? The cynic in me thinks the plan is to make sure the first round of delegate voting fails to find a winner, so that the second round, where the superdelegates come in, assure the plutocrats that there will not be a President Bernie Sanders.

You misunderstand my point; its not the quality of the candidates, its the quantity. Which, is why I prefaced it how I did. Only 20 qualified for the debates - fuck, I remember when usually you'd have 3-5 hopefuls, not 20+. Its foolishness, bound to divide the party and weaken the chance of getting rid of twitler.

Running for President is a great way to (a) gain name recognition; (b) bolster the coffers. It's a very profitable business, thanks to Citizens United.

I'd say you see that pretty clearly. It was nice to see this version of Sanders show up at A Washington Post Interview recently. I hope he shows up at the next debates. Sanders is going to have to start calling out the obvious coordinated effort to paint him as just another face in the crowd. This was an effort to paint him as Biden. He'll have a tougher time against Warren and Harris. If he doesn't challenge them , he'll just be an unnecessary man. If he does, he'll be sexist.
