The person who grabbed those ballots is a goddamn hero. If there's a silver lining to the monumental fuckery that went on at the Capitol building, that is it.

Also, Trump is a fucking psychopath. Instead of actually calming things down and condemning the rioting, he masturbated his way through the day and circle jerked his followers. Meanwhile, in Washington, right-wing protestors have broken into the capitol building.

If a group of black men had done this, they would have been mowed down by the police. But white guys gets a pass, apparently, in mounting a violent coup.

I've been keeping up with the news all day. At first the Trumpanistas overran the Capitol police, and they were more concerned with getting legislators and staff to safety than arresting people. Then when D.C. officials wanted to call out the National Guard, Trump refused to sign off on it. Eventually Pence had to do it. So getting overwhelming force on site took time. They brought in Metropolitan D.C. police, local FBI, and State Patrol from neighboring states, and eventually the Guard arrived. Once they had enough bodies, they started clearing the Capitol area.

One person inside the Capitol was shot and killed by Capitol police. Something noted by one of the news channels is that the Capitol is loaded with security cameras, and these idiots were taking selfies and posting videos. They can be tracked down and arrested later. Congress is very pissed off for having to shelter in place, and their priority is to get back to what they were doing. Arrests can wait.

Q: Why is a Trumpanista coup like a DVD?

I have a twitter account separate from my normal one (you can't have either, sorry ) that is my "3D artist" account. It is strictly for Blender and 3D art networking and I have very deliberately not followed any political figures or news orgs, or people who are prone to retweeting those things. And it has worked! Trump and his entire disaster of a presidency has only creeped into that account's timeline like maybe once every other month. Even during the election!

Until today. Freaking EVERYONE is talking about what happened this afternoon. People from other countries, even. They're all completely amazed. I haven't been joining in, not with that account, but it goes to show the significance of this.
