I am really felt tired of these media outlets stirring the pot and hoping for violence.
I get that they miss TFG and all his hate and drama, but it's nauseating.
The "spectre of civil war" is no more here than its been since the first survivalist groups and 'sovereign citizens'.
So they can all take a flying leap.

I hope you're right. What frightens me is that, after the way Republican legislatures have, in many states, embarked on corrupting the democratic process by rewriting the rules by taking power away from impartial election administrators and giving it to partisan legislatures, and by successfully targeting elected administrative offices, it's difficult to see any likely outcome that both sides are likely to accept as legitimate.

David Aaronovitch's review, a link to which I've added to my previous post, of the book in question ends thus:

Yet for all that, Walter is not fatalistic. If the forces of division have a playbook, then, she writes, “we have a playbook too”. She advocates better civics lessons in schools, prosecuting armed militias as terrorists, reform of what is, in fact, a terribly inefficient and patchwork voting system, tech regulation and much greater attention to developing policies that benefit the majority of citizens. The threat can be averted. To which the watching Brit, otherwise powerless, can only whisper a heartfelt: “Amen.”

The "civil war" thing isn't new. The SC'S, white supremacists, and other groups have been training for it, making shelters, stockpiling supplies, etc,for decades
The political power grabs after TFG lost are new, and are being fought in the courts. But that's not a civil war. It's like the media wants the war part.
I don't knowwhat's going to happen with that, but what I do know is that the part of the country that isn't right wing lunatics isn't going to just sit there and get steamrolled.

Except, you are conflating The Times, a respected newspaper with american television media. Not the same thing at all.

Also, we are currently where Germany was in the 1920s. No one took it seriously then, and it scares me that it might actually have been just as inept as last year's attempt at a coup. I just can't find enough on whether it was a clown car of seeming idiocy then, not even sure how to search. I'll probably need to fiind a history book that focuses on it, and hope its in english.

Well, if we're Germany in the 1920s,at least I don't have to worry about getting old.

He was 19 at the time of the offence.

The pandemic meant Ridge, like many other high school seniors, had to miss out on most of his final year of high school, forcing him into virtual learning.

"Mr. Ridge especially suffered from the emotional aspect of suddenly being cut off from friends and major social events that he has looked forward to for four years including, prom, Senior Spirit Day and the senior year picnic," Laguzzi wrote.
Meanwhile

Currently an estimated 250,000 youth are tried, sentenced, or incarcerated as adults every year across the United States. During the 1990s—the era when many of our most punitive criminal justice policies were developed—49 states altered their laws to increase the number of minors being tried as adults. On any given day, 10,000 youth are detained or incarcerated in adult jails and prisons

All these "experts" forget about, or discount as unimportant, the 81,000,000 people who voted for Biden.
And the rest of the people in the poll cited here :

They can all take a flying leap.
"The Republican Party" had been trending on Twitter every time I've looked in since yesterday. The trend is full of tweets from Democrats with big Stacey Abrams energy.
So what are they going to do? America is a big country, and the military is not behind them.
Can their goons slaughter everyone who won't comply before they are overwhelmed? And they'd have to keep doing so .
So yeah, those Canadian "experts" can go sit and spin.

"Protect their American freedoms and liberties" by taking away the freedom and liberty of anyone who doesn't submit to their religious tyranny.

Sometimes I wish William Golding had never written Lord of the Flies.
