An US presidency should be only for proven political professionals. Maybe the Reps and the Dems could make it a party law that one has to be at least a political active member with political experience in public offices for at least 10 years, before they can run for their party.

While that sounds good it would run into legal issues fast. First there are de facto only two parties so you would set their rules above the constitution and that lists the quals for an office. There are also first amendment issues that parallel things there.
