Neither he nor any of the family is yet under criminal investigation, I think, or at least not in this matter, which is a criminal investigation into civil action against the Trump Organisation as a corporate body.

There is a parallel criminal investigation into his company, for which his Chief Financial Office has already been indicted. And his long-time tax accountants just fired him as a client and stated the last ten years of financial statements should not be relied on. He's the sole owner of the company, and his three older children are senior officers. So to imagine he's not also under criminal investigation is incorrect. They simply haven't gone public with that part yet, until they finish with the underlings and finally get all the documents that have been fought over for years.

During the interview Trump suggested that this was the kind of tactic the US could employ on its southern border with Mexico.

So he thinks we should declare a chunk of Mexico independent so we can invade/be peacekeepers?
Does he think Mexico used to belong to Texas (as per Tuckums' reasoning) instead of the other way round?
And, "not even thinkable" under his "leadership"? He probably thinks Putin would be scared of him . He'd believe him if he said he wouldn't invade, like he did with KJU and his nukes.
Or, like now, he'd be "justifying" it and cheering him on.
