Well, to be honest after Brexit I only ordered one thing from the UK.
It took more than a week to be delivered. According to track and trace it lay for three days at a Belgium port to be cleared by customs.

Here in NL we are spoiled, we expect goods to arrive the day after ordering, two days waiting time at most. Half of the time same day delivery is possible with bol.com (the Dutch equivalent of Amazon).
The advantages of a small sized country.
Goods shipped from Germany or France take a day longer. Goods from the UK forever and a day nowadays.
I have sent and received things in the past that have been stuck in Belgium for days or weeks. All pre-Brexit. Belgium is just pointless. It would be better if it was annexed by the Netherlands.

My Belgian friend once informed me that they just call them "waffles."

Problem solved!

I think this opens the way for the Dutch invasion.

Wait. What will we call the former Benelux? "Nelux?" "Hollux?" "Dux?"

I cannot come up with anything ear pleasing.

Well, clearly Luxembourg has to go, too.

Hey, filling up our cars is much cheaper in Belgium, we would lose that opportunity if we would invade.
We know the recipes of their chocolates, waffles and beer, we pay with the same money, we have totally open borders.

Besides it is a nice country, with nice people, half of them speak some kind of Dutch (some understandable others not so much).

The UK's new PM, Lizz Truss, urges the world to follow her in trickle down economics. What could possibly go wrong with making the rich even richer, and the poor getting poorer due to that?

Truss already collided there with Joe Biden, who tweeted that he is "sick and tired" of that approach, because it never worked.

Well the British voted Conservative into the PM's office last elections, and that is what they get.
Trickle down makes their friends rich.
People should really learn to vote according to their wallets and income. Not an exclusive UK problem of course. Here in NL it far to often isn't the case either.
Why the VVD (center right) is the biggest party in our country beats me too. Praise the forces they don't have a majority and need a coalition in parliament to rule.

The Democrats (center right) are the biggest party in the USA too.

I know, but the Democrats in the US are also the most to the left bigger party at the same time.

In NL we have several more to the left parties, who should be together the majority in the country, but they are not. So not everyone votes in their own best interest IMHO. People with average and lower incomes, shouldn't vote for parties that try to let the market do the work. That is an illusion, the market caters above all to the owners and investors, not the employees.

It's like anywhere - the rich people own the vast majority of the press, and people believe what they read...
Also, in 2019, Labour was pretty much unelectable under Jeremy Corbyn and everyone was so tired and bored with arguments over Brexit monopolising everything for the previous three years that "Get Brexit Done" (so we don't have to hear any more about it) sounded an attractive, though illusory, idea at the time (not unlike Brexit itself, in some ways).
