"Leaving the EU has had consequences, Brexit is pure!"
It seems an awful lot of money, though. I mean, most holidaymakers who have bought a package including their flights and hotel, and if you're paying for your hotel separately, you'd normally use a credit card, or at least I would. Even if they're not using a credit card for meals, drinks and other expenditure, most people would find it difficult to spend €100 a day on top of that while on holiday in Spain, I'd have thought, unless they've got a drugs habit or are visiting a lot of brothels. If Spain requires this for all countries they have no special treaties negotiated with, than so be it for the UK too I guess.
I can't imagine that Spain makes up these rules for the UK only.
Yes, some countries have 'interesting' rules and laws. EU countries not excluded. It seems an awful lot of money, though. Does the per day amount include the cost of the package? Because that would make it more reasonable. It seems an awful lot of money, though. Anybody who travels to the United Kingdom who is not a citizen of Australia, Canada, The United States, or the EU must apply for a visa and provide personal financial details as part of the process. The Spanish and French requirements do seem excessive, but are likely the result of local efforts to "take back control" and reduce the number of undesirable people from entering the country from outside the EU which was seemingly not possible in the UK. It does sound like an undue burden, but it requires diplomatic agreements between governments to fix. Something the current UK government seems to find challenging at the moment for some reason. Governments do not tend to just casually open themselves up to the entry of foreign citizens without formal diplomatic negotiations. Surprisingly, this is true even for subjects of Her Majesty the Queen. It seems an awful lot of money, though. That says £100 -- £150 a day for "trip expenses," which is reasonable if those expenses include the cost of hotels. Maybe the Spanish visa requirements are similar, in which case they're a lot more reasonable.Hey, look what is needed to get a UK visa:

Added: Once again: The British are no specialcornsnowflakes. They get what they voted for.
We from the EU even got what we didn't vote for.
You are not expected to spend it, you are expected to be able to spend it when there are unexpected events like extra traveling, theft of luggage, breakdown of your car or extra nights in the country for whatever reason.Since I'll already have paid for the hotel and transfers from and to Schiphol, there's no way I'm going to spend anything like €100 a day on out-of-pocket expenses, or at least I certainly hope I'm not.
That's perfectly reasonable, and I hope the Spanish authorities take a similar view. It was the idea that people would need to buy several hundred Euros' worth currency or travellers checks there was little chance they'd actually need that worried me, but so long as credit/debit cards are acceptable, that's a different matter. You are not expected to spend it, you are expected to be able to spend it when there are unexpected events like extra traveling, theft of luggage, breakdown of your car or extra nights in the country for whatever reason.
Owning a credit or debit card will perfectly do the trick. No need to walk around with € 700 cash if you stay a week.
According to Spain's Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores you can use a credit card combined with appropriate financial statements to indicate you have the necessary financial resources and will not be a burden on society:That's perfectly reasonable, and I hope the Spanish authorities take a similar view. Accreditation of financial means
At the request of the competent authorities, the traveller must present proof of having sufficient financial means for the proposed stay or of the ability to legally obtain such means.
In 2020, the minimum amount required is 90 euros per person per day. In any case, and regardless of the length of stay, the traveller must have at least 810 euros or its equivalent in foreign currency.
Economic means may be accredited by presenting cash, traveller's cheques, a credit card accompanied by a bank account statement, an up-to-date bank book, or any other resource that accredits the amount available, such as a credit statement regarding the card or bank account. Bank letters or online bank statements will not be accepted.
What a guy. That's from 2020. He deleted his account since then.
