The crypto / blockchain sales people are mostly flakes who don't really understand what they are doing, however...

I do appreciate their vision. I mean, if virtual worlds were to go mainstream, and transform the internet into some kind of 3D mass medium... I don't know if that's a good idea or not, but if that were to happen... I find it hard to imagine that happening within a walled garden like SL. It would have to be built on distributed, open protocols that allow us to set up our own regions, and allow visitors to jump from one place to another easily, while hopefully not violating the GDPR. The protocol that will do that is probably not blockchain, but you know, the blockchain people are kinda in the ballpark of thinking about the problems that would have to be solved to make virtual worlds a serious mass medium. It's not like anybody else has any solid solutions yet, so who knows... maybe the answer is blockchain. Weirder things have happened!

Which it never does for long as without denizens to show off to: why build there? Without creations: why visit? It's a death loop...

Virtual worlds are luxury goods... for 99% of users the only motivation to use them is the desire to do so. Why have almost none of virtual world creators focused on making their worlds desireable to be in? (Big nod to LL here, they failed gloryously in invoking desire to visit Sansar, but hey: at least they tried to - maybe they were onto something?)

It was more of a cultural change that has its roots in Japan. It started about the time American businesses began using certain practices that were brought in by new upper management hired from Japan. I just wish they'd set the company song to a techno or hip-hop beat so the floor exercises and recitation of the mission statement and core values statement would go faster.

Here's some honest input. Learn about paragraph breaks. WALLS OF TEXT are unpleasant to read. They reveal that you're just spewing stream-of-consciousness levels of thinking. On the Unity forums there is a post with a few replies which starts with that age old virtual world question "What would be 5 "must have" personal possessions that you have, want, or are striving to own? First, Please let me know right away if this the wrong place to ask or if it is inappropriate. I'm in the early stages of developing a Virtual World environment and would like individuals who exist in, or frequent, those environments to provide constructive input as to their personal "Wish List" of what they like and dislike about those environments, and give input on my personal direction. We can either do it here... if is OK with powers to be or via my email... " The OPs first response to replies starts off a bit nice but by mid paragraph turns condescending.

It gives a bit of insight into how his thought process/state of mind. As of this post, it has 14 views and was posted on Nov 13, 2021 which makes my own channel look busy!

He is a Professor/Architect at SDCCD and since 1986 has been "Teach AutoCAD and REVIT, Design classes, Drafting, Strength of Materials, Architectural Detailing, and Professional Practice."
