Is there a function to let you ignore a whole subforum? Some of our political threads do get kinda long and they can tend to monopolize the Latest Posts and Trending sidebars. We definitely need moar poasts in the rest of the things.

I align with the median SLUer's political views. That is to say, I’m hard left.

But I just do not care about talking nor reading about politics.

I just want a place to talk about about Second Life, or, more recently, VRChat, and yes, SLU was not, at least in the last 3 year or so, a place where that really happens much; at least not to an extent that someone obsessed like me finds fulfilling. I have to limit myself so I'm not the only one talking on a thread.

So it’s an understandable complaint, but, it's not a community's job to be interesting to outsiders nor their obligation to stick to a topic.

And you can always just put the politics forum on ignore.

An anonymizer, eh? If their intentions were good in wanting to see more of a certain type of content on the site, and less of another, while tossing in a shot about site failure, then why use an anonymizer?

Not to defend this guy at all - but a lot of people are using VPNS these days. The thought of your ISP selling your browsing history is enough to send many people toward anonymous browsing, even if you may be the most boring websurfer ever. Its just icky to think of people using information about what you read and think to market to you.

Having said that, it's my perception that Cris would like more virtual world content and he's created dedicated subforums to provide people the platform to do exactly that. If they don't make use of those subforums, or create threads, or respond to the ones that are there, that's hardly other members responsibility. We can all be part of the change we want to see. And, if the community here prefers to post primarily in PRS and ZOMGWTF, then that's ok too.

I definitely am trying to foster an environment with more virtual world content beyond Second Life. I've had to educate myself to some of the other options there, and I've also been reaching out to people in different communities to try to increase involvement here. I don't love the political focus here either, but it is what people want to talk about, and those with no interest in it can completely ignore that entire forum and not see a peep out of it.

That said, the site is only a month old and I did start from scratch, even if it is with an existing user base, so it will take time to balance out. I really would love to see more content from other virtual worlds, and I thank you in particular Pancake for helping to initiate people to share on various themes. I will keep working to broaden the content on the site, and I hope others will help in that regard. Keep talking about what interests you, I certainly do, just hopefully also provide some balance so this is not a politics site above all else.

Regardless, the person who contacted me is an asshole. There's nothing constructive about "zomg it's going to fail again", so they can fuck right off. I always take input unless someone is outright rude and hostile to me. I don't often play the "it's my site" card, but in this case, if you're a dick to me, I am not going to listen to a thing you have to say.

I appreciate that. I don't feel the need to defend, I just like to be transparent in my choices and thinking, especially since this site is meant to be more than just SLU 3.0 (there were two SLU forums). I'm still shaping my vision for it, and the input of some asshole troll has zero bearing on that. The input of all of that are part of the site and participate in it is what matters to me.

I am not a fascist, I do not support fascism, and telling Cristiano to not worry about random anonymous hate mail is no where even close to a fascist line of thought. For one thing, I have no power of censorship here and wouldn't use it if I did, and for another thing if you look through my post history you'll see that I am trying to get a Jewish family member out of the very fascist USA. Sorry, telling someone not to worry about a random anon who appears to have specifically made up a persona to troll is not a nazi thing to do. Like, I'm really personally close to a lot of vulnerable people that are getting affected by by the recent wave of fascism sweeping across the world, so to my mind calling someone hitler is like comparing them to the worst festering boil on the ass of humanity. Maybe I'm overreacting, idk, but all I know is I would never in a million years compare you or anyone to hitler for telling a very non fascist person not to worry about their haters.
