Jesus. The last time I spoke to my sister and we cut ties was Sept 21. She has since gone full-bore conspiracy theorist. I have another family member who does still see what she posts, is friends. She's been posting things about Biden crime family, the guy in wherever it was with the supposed destroyed ballot that had to go into hiding, the election being stolen, Trump 2024; on and on.

It's been a month and a half! She's delved right into right wing kooksphere. I'm amazed at the transformation in such a short time and well, more than a bit dismayed.

We already know thanks to his bout with COVID-19 that he can't hold up in the White House for more than a few days. We could easily lock him out if we can convince the staff in January to start telling him the kitchen is all out of cheeseburgers.

Of the many things that no longer matter to me about Stephen Miller: that he is the only senior adviser to have survived—thrived—all four years of the term while not having sprung from or married into Trumpian gametes. Or that he was a jerk at Santa Monica High School, or that he capitalized on the Duke lacrosse rape allegations. I don’t care about his rapid ascent up the Michele Bachmann and Jeff Sessions staff ladder, or that he (and Jared Kushner) provided the rare sight of a fitted suit and skinny tie in the West Wing. I don’t care about the pitch of his voice, or his surprisingly wooden delivery at a podium, or that he got married. There’s much about his brutishly short life thus far that I don’t care to evaluate. There’s only one thing to know.

I am not sure why I am sharing this with you all. Maybe to expose how bad it can get and how quickly?

I spent numerous hours speaking to her, it involved a whole lots of curse words, mostly her telling me to "fuck off". At one point, she said she never wanted to hear my name again, to which I responded, "Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene" She must not have appreciated it as the next thing after that was "You are dead to me"

Ouchies. Almost gave up right there. That stung.

Anyhow, hours later, After an hours break or so each time or even a few, we were able to talk to each other without curse words. I had to be the one to initiate that. I don't wanna share that as it is even more personal than sharing all of this with you.

We spent the next few hours discussing all manner of topics from Covid to Trump to our electoral process. Every step of the way I had to walk her back, with proof, from the misconceptions she has gathered from who knows where.

There isn't any resolution at this point. She is still pretty sure that Trump had the election stolen from him..nothing I said dissuaded her from that.

But again, no screaming. I was able to talk about the civil rights act, the southern strategy, the vote counting process, in particular mail-in ballots.

I have no idea if it did any good, but, well I do love her, so I am going to try my very hardest to pull her back from the brink.
