Tilia, a prelude to decline?

I'm curious why you are fine with handing over a social security number, but a utility statement showing your address is a bridge too far.
My off the cuff reaction is that it's rinky-dink ameteur hour shit and it reminds me of the days when folks who ran BBS's used to ask you to fax your id so you could see their porn. I admit that's an emotional reaction, but I don't believe I'm too far off the mark.

There's no more information you're going to get from my water bill than you'll get from having my SSI number, and at least submitting my SSI number can be automated.

Having someone handle my bills is another point of failure, and having had (in the 90's) employees run off with checks I've submitted I'm not sanguine about some stranger in another state having the ability to steal my identity. (something I've had happen twice as well; luckily both attempts were glaringly obvious and my bank caught them).

I think the better question would be: why am I comfortable with handing over personally identifiable information (my ssi number) to a non-utility company? I don't have a good, valid answer to that one.

But long story short, I believe there's better ways to do authentication and the whole "send in a photocopy" bit skeeves me out. Particularly in the case of Linden Lab who has a craptastic track record of managing shit.

Proof of Address.

A utility bill, or some similar piece of mail with your name and address is a pretty standard ask as a secondary POI document in this country and has been for years. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised by the lack of documentation cash out customers have been able to get away with before now.

To my mind, not requiring utility bills or similar pieces of secondary documentation is amateur hour. From my perspective, annoyance aside, this is the Lab finally getting its shit together and putting on its grown up pants.

Proof of Address.
The lab has my bank routing number, which gives them this. Ditto for paypal.

Paypal, who has also not asked me for a copy of my mail or whatever.

I'm not convinced, and that's fine -I don't have to be.

I went here to express my concern about the new LL changes and you guys started to shit on the thread because of your superiority complex.

Go play video games kid.

Really appreciate your concern.
You're not one of my family, you're not one of my friends. You're just another anonymous person on the infobahn who has an opinion and seeks attention and validation from others, desperately seeking kindred spirits.

You asked for opinions/validation here. You then got your knickers in a twist when people responded with GASP different opinions! Then you threw out the OMG U NED 2 RUN REEL BIZNES 2 REPLY PLZ so some of us responded. Shockingly enough most of us did not share your same intellectual viewpoint about identity confirmation.

Then, and no real surprise, you went all Angsty McButthurt mode. Quickly followed by school yard "insults". Yeah I quoted insults as that's the default go to for those with no concrete debate skills.

TLDR; Your inability or unwillingness to confirm your identity to cash out as per national/international legislation or even make attempts to find alternate ways with customer service is not my concern.

How Tilia impacts you is not a concern of mine, that is a concern of yours.

I'm still boggling at the idea that most of the folks in this thread don't run or haven't run businesses in SL....

As i see this thread content is deteriorating it seems that most of you don't care about the future of the platform you are in, the general sentiment is that the average iq here is gradually going below 80, i guess you deserve everything that LL throws at you after all. I yet have to see people who actually cash out answering the questions.
It's about compliance with the law, cupcake. Sure, LL can cater to the likes of you and buck the law, but that will all but ensure SL has no future. Is that really what you want?

And since you bring up IQ, I have to seriously question the IQ of someone who comes brand-new to a forum and accuses its members of not having enough. Whatever point you may have had up until now has been negated by such a move.

I'm sorry you find the process of identifying yourself in order to cash out of SL too onerous. I hope you never contemplate opening a business in the real world, where laws and regulations are even more strict than what you're seeing here.

So, our newfound "friend" claims to have an IQ.

Not sure how he scored that high given his lack of reading comprehension. Maybe he did well on the "put the triangle right side up according to sequence" part, which at best qualifies him to operate that children's toy with the shapes and holes.

So instead of a garden variety wankstain, he's a "I HAZ A SMARTR THEN U" wankstain. Tack that onto his "superiority complex," I suppose.

I can't tell anyone I used to. That would take all of the fun out of the "posting in a thread where the OP specifically told me not to."
