Yes, you did, at least technically. If Linden Lab forgot to obtain positive identification from you before they paid, they made a serious mistake because that would be illegal. Lucky for you perhaps but they would have noticed sooner or later even without the switch to Tilia.
In fairness I don't think that's been quite the case - before the recent deadline, people HAVE been able to cash out without needing to provide ID - that's why there is so much song and dance about it since the deadline.

Prior to the deadline, I think it was only people who were cashing out an amount over a certain threshold (which was accumulative over the year I think) who had to provide identification. Now I think everybody who cashes out has to.

I myself cashed out a sum for the very first time just before the deadline, and no identification was required.

As to whether LL were acting legally or not, I don't know .

you can still find a bank or two that is willing to open an account with a single ID and some basic info...but you'll find more and more institutions will start asking for 2 forms of ID and other pieces of info. soon you won't have a choice..

the Anti Tech backlash of making companies/websites more responsible and liable for the content on thier platforms... with all the Data breaching and hacking going on around these days companies are slowly cracking down on it. rumor is that second life has been a hotspot for money laundering and information sharing.... it's in their best interests to prevent a possible future potential disaster waiting to happen.. they just chose to let another company handle it to cover their ass.

it's apart of the modern day war between protection and privacy... you want to be protected? we need to know everything about you.

As i see this thread content is deteriorating it seems that most of you don't care about the future of the platform you are in, the general sentiment is that the average iq here is gradually going below 80, i guess you deserve everything that LL throws at you after all. I yet have to see people who actually cash out answering the questions.
This is a prime example of someone who comes here, is a complete asshole, and then they wonder why people respond the way they do. Kindly fuck off with this bullshit.

Wait, I thought sculpts were the end of SL, or was it mesh? Or was it furries? Or tighter land controls to cripple most griefers? Or was it lowering of tier? Or the raising of premium rates?

I'm confused but don't have a problem being a hobby business owner who occassionally cashes at in the past and currently. If you have a problem with reaffirming your identity for your financial safety, well, that's your problem, mr fixated on utility bill.

In other situations where I need to show an address (like DMV asking for a utility bill) I’ve used my internet bill for that, since I live in a place where water and electricity are included in the rent. But we have to pay individually to the internet/cable company, so my internet connection is my bill for an address. I still have them send me paper bills for this reason.
Being asked for a document showing an address is pretty routine in California where LL is. There might be a way for someone not in the states to provide a different document. This would definitely not be the first time LL has asked for something most people in the US have, but a lot of people in other places don’t.

Which brings up the issue of people who really don't have proof of a fixed address because they're just camping out on a friend's couch or in an illegal sublet/rental or just an informal "I'll give you cash if you let me use that spare bedroom." Yet another way that people who don't have money, can't make money, because they're too far down a hole and are blocked from climbing back up.

It was a combination of flexi-prims and copybot. Or maybe GOM. Or the banking ban.

No one has expressed a superiority complex but you. People have explained why they don't think the new requirements will spell any kind of doom for SL, as they are not that unusual or burdensome. Your mileage may vary, but it doesn't mean your chicken little complex needs to be coddled by others.

Also, SL is a video game, kid - one that I have been involved with for a full 10 years longer than you have and I've run two SL related websites for a combined 16 years. My fuck off stands - in fact, keep it up and I'll remove you myself, as this is my site.

Some soup kitchens and shelters have mail pickup, so it's possible to have a "fixed address" even if someone is living on the street.

Not sure if you lost your capacity to read or something
*Our* superiority complex? That's really rich coming from the wankstain that was telling people I DONT WANNA HEER FROM NONBUDNIZ OWNRZ U CANT POST HEER

Hypocrite.

You really need new material, the "LRN 2 REED NOOB" as a response got old on Usenet in the 1990's.

Although it was a nice way to show off your superiority complex.

Hypocrite.

Go play video games kid.
Oh, hey, more of Captain Wankstain's superiority complex!

Hypocrite.

Maybe Cristiano should give an award for N00Bs that make it clear what a complete assclown they are in under 5 posts.

Also LL can GTFO if they think that I'm going to send them a copy of any of my utilities.

Some info is reasonable (social security number), but when you start asking for copies of my bills, birth certificate, etc nope. On top of being invasive it strikes me as being a sign of complete incompetence.

Google has not asked me for that, nor any of the other services I'm a part of.

I don't trust LL -I don't believe they're competent. I have alternatives and I'm happy willing to delete my own account if push comes to shove on that.

Oh, on a related "why it's a bad idea to dox yourself to jackoffs in san francisco" note:
