Talk about creepy....

Many women line up in support of Kavanaugh

I can't even...

From your link:

"I'm very empathetic to women who've been through this type of situation," said Mace, 40. "But on the other side, we have laws in this country that protect individuals from being wrongfully accused."
What is so ironic about that, is that Kavanaugh himself has been criticized by more constitutionalist conservatives for having no damn clue what the 4th amendment or due process is. He authored pieces of the Patriot act that let federal agents write their own search warrants among other things.

I repeat, he had a big hand in detaining many Americans and others without trial or charge. Even if he is innocent of the sexual assault allegations, he deserves this.

There's probably more than a few in the party who would consider losing a few seats at the mid terms well worth the prize of getting Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court bench. It might even be worth losing control of the House for a term or two.
I agree. The supreme court is why they have been willing to back Trump.

It will be interesting to see whether any SCOTUS judges have the backbone to call for Kavanaugh to recuse himself when Roe v. Wade comes up.

So the White House is interfering with the FBI investigation, dictating who they can interview and what the scope can be. How is that not obstruction of justice?

White House limits scope of the FBI’s Kavanaugh investigation

It also telegraphs what they are most afraid of - investigating the gang rape allegations and Kavanaugh's drinking, the latter opening him up to perjury charges.

Donald Trump’s illegal FBI order reveals what Brett Kavanaugh fears most
Hopefully Mueller is paying attention ....

The sequel will probably be better.

My sister-in-law had no idea who kavanaugh even was until I mentioned the articles in this thread. Lucky. Although I still do not know how some people avoid knowing what is in the news that much.
Because it's depressing and "both sides are the same" and "it doesn't really affect me" and they probably don't vote anyway. (Referring to people who avoid the news and politics in general)

I'm still wondering whether after all is said and done, he'll still be approved and end up sitting on the Supreme Court. Right now, I'm thinking that's what will happen. That's depressing as hell.

I get depressing. I even understand people avoiding most politics news. I just do not know how you can NOT hear news stories when they get that big. It would be as if someone in the US said 'umm, can someone remind me again who is the president'. No matter your feelings on the answer or even if you have feelings about it that would be something that would be hard not to know.

I wouldn't know who Kavanaugh was if it weren't for this forum. I don't watch the news. I don't read newspapers. I don't surf news sites. The stuff I read here is stressful enough. Not a good idea for me to be going around pissed off all the time. Not good for others for that matter.

The thing that gives me some hope is.... Sure the FBI is limited in what they can investigate for the re-opened background check. That doesn't mean they are limited in what they can investigate for a criminal investigation.

I'd dearly love to see the arrogant ass indicted for perjury.

In any case, the bottom line here is that Brett Kavanaugh now has good reason to be very, very afraid. When Donald Trump and his White House tried to secretly block certain aspects of the FBI investigation, it telegraphed that these were the specific areas in which Kavanaugh faced the most serious threat of legal jeopardy.
I'm not really sure that follows. Donald Trump has absolutely no idea what kind of evidence or witnesses Swetnick has or how good they are outside of what the public already knows. IMO it was just Trump being spiteful of her lawyer Avenatti, whom we already know he hates for other unrelated reasons.

The thing that really gets to me about this most recent development is the idea that Trump could even limit the terms of the investigation. Is that something the president can legally do? If so, it strikes me as an extremely terrible power to grant any president, let alone the orange one.
