I think Flake's "strategy" by calling for the FBI investigation was nothing but a shrewd and cynical ploy to create a way he could pretend to have been moved by the protesting rape victims who got in his face. Now that there's an "investigation" - despite the fact that a single week is laughable and almost bound to turn up hardly anything - at the end he can shrug and say "well I did what I could".
The thing is, once the investigation gets started, they can follow the "lying to congress" trail wherever it goes, in addition to the sexual allegations. Any evidence of a criminal nature won't stop after a week, even if he is voted onto the Supreme Court.

I guess I can see people doing that. Myself, I've been in the military for 20 years, and was a military brat growing up, so I was used to moving every few years. As a result, I've learned to "lighten the load" and get rid of things that had no particular value to me anymore.

Heh. I think he'd be the first Supreme Court Justice in American history to get arrested and sent to prison. Can a SC Justice be impeached?

I don't think that's true though. My impression was that Trump's order allowing them to investigate, limits the investigation very strictly to the sexual claims against Kavenaugh on the day the order was issued. I could be wrong about that, but I believe that's what I've read.

So, basically, the FBI is going to be so hamstrung with conditions on their investigation, that they are almost guaranteed to not come up with anything substantive within a week. Great!

Times are so crazy right now that it's easy to forget that we had the second worst modern president just 10 years ago.
Yes! When Bush was President, I thought he was the absolute worst President, at least in my lifetime. I was infuriated that he kept getting away with his (false) down-home, one of the guys routine while he did truly bad things, that in a large way got us where we are today.

Now, even some on the left, have put him up as some sort of good guy, just because we've now gotten even worse, and because he handed Michelle some candy?

I shudder to think what comes after Agent Orange.

I would not be so sure. Yes, congress would need more than a week but the FBI said they could get it done in less. They already had the gears in motion all over on Friday night.

Talk about creepy....

Many women line up in support of Kavanaugh

"It was too timely and strategic," said King, 21. "Anything like that makes you question how true it is."

"A lot of times, you cope by suppressing and forgetting," said King, who leads the King University College Republicans. "But someone's promotion isn't something that should prompt someone to come forward."
I can't even...

Did you honestly expect anything different?

When it comes to repuglicans always, always, expect the worst. Because that is what is going to happen. They got theirs. All that is left for them to do is make damn sure no one else gets anything so they can have it all. And then turn on each other since their greed knows no bounds.

They're losing their hard-on.
It'd be nice if they gave a shit about things like that. However, it seems to this outsider that the Republicans have moved well beyond subtleties like how this might effect their polling. There's probably more than a few in the party who would consider losing a few seats at the mid terms well worth the prize of getting Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court bench. It might even be worth losing control of the House for a term or two.
