Trump plans to initiate a sitin meeting between himself, Putin and Selsenski. The objective is obviously peace talks. First Trump wants to meet Putin alone, afterwards he wants to plan the trilateral meeting.

No other Ukrainian allies aside the USA will attend it.

The first meeting should happen next week.

Trump tells European leaders he will meet with Putin and Zelenskyy

The single most depressing video I have seen this year. And yeah, this is why Trump won. The level of ignorance in this country is so profound, that it's no wonder they can't tell that Trump is lying.

This isn't just a handful of students, it's dozens and dozens.

And they're dismantling the Department of Education.

Yeah, it makes me feel like a complaining old person who "just doesn't understand new culture", but I really feel like young peolple may actually be pretty dumb and lazy.

And Insaybthis as someone who is honestlt, pretty lazy, though I do it in more of a "be efficient to have time for lazyness" than a "I don't do it because lazyness. "

Much as it pains me to say it, that video doesn't make much of a case for "They've been doing a great job."

In fact, if you wanted to make propaganda supporting the shutdown you could edit together a bunch of idiots and ....

......hey......wait a minute ....

I doubt any of them carries cash or coin. It's all credit/debit cards and electronic payment methods.

Analog clocks? Why would they go out of their way to waste space on their phone display to enable one?

Math? Yeah, lost art. Nobody even needs a calculator anymore, just ask google.

Geography? Maps, Atlases, Globes? They're expensive. And they seem largely absent or ignored now. They don't even need to have any familiarity with their local area, everything is 'nav software' and 'ride share' in their world, with forgotten irrelevant 'drive through' neighborhoods inbetween.

Politics & current events? And endless overwhelming deluge of information that sweeps over them without sticking due to just how relentless it is. They've become desensitized to it. Unless it obviously and directly pertains to them in a way they immediately understand... it doesn't make it past their filters.

Cursive is lost. Printing is following it. The ability to read only still exists because texts are convenient.

They are learning something. They're learning how to tune out the attention seeking pervasive marketing that dominates all communication/information sectors. Unfortunately they've gotten so good at it that they're filtering out relevant, essential and basic knowledge too.

So yeah. We're f**ked, and because we don't have an informed electorate, our elections are doomed to slide towards loud entertaining populist shitbags rather than competent law-makers.

Eh, this type of video is in the same vein as right-wing propagandists ambushing college students and asking them leading questions. This interview tactic has the sole purpose of collecting as much video footage of confused people as possible. It's highly dishonest and manipulative.

Here's another video from the same channel, btw.

Oh, I just realized that the video above isn't just "in the same vein as right-wing propagandists" - it IS right-wing propaganda. The Andrew Tate video isn't just a slip, that YouTube channel is full of crap like this.

I have noticed this in my own thinking, and actually worry a bit about it.

The world is so full of scam nonsense that I find I really just, do not trust anything or anyone trying to "sell me" on anything. It could be legitimate good advice, win-win etc. And I just, naturally assume its a scam and I will end up fucked over and avoid it (usually actively) or turn it down.

I'll grant the hidden agenda and manipulation, but unless these were all paid actors, this stunt still points to a fundamental lack of basic knowledge in kids who have graduated from high school and been accepted at some version of a college.

We had a similar forehead-smacking incident at a family gathering some 10-15 years ago. My wife's young niece (high school graduate) was playing Trivia was us and her father. She couldn't answer the question of what countries fought in WWII. (It asked to name just TWO!)

I teach a University freshman class. I can say this is pretty much cherrypicked bullshit. My students may miss some trivia, but they are smart and can reason just fine.

You can find idiots in any age/education bracket. I do think there’s a general dumbing down of the population.

That's my impression. I remember when at that age, I was listening to the news most every night. The radio was turned on every morning, the tv at night, so most were aware of what was happening locally and in the rest of the world. So much information available now, and you can just bypass news and get to the music or shows at your own convenience, you can’t even learn something “by accident”. It’s also difficult to know what is true, or being left out.

My nieces and nephew are generally aware of what is happening (politics, wars, etc.) but they are probably biased because we veer heavily to the left and often have after dinner conversations about it all. Maybe they are inside a certain bubble, just as others are in their family’s bubble. In any case, they don’t listen to or read the news. They probably get most of their info from friends and some social media (now that they are out of school).

Yeah I am sure it is.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you what country Dubai is in because I don't care about Dubai and the whole place feels like a scummy scam under a veneer of fake decadance.

I also would probably guess Africa for what continent Saudi Arabia is on, its on that goofy square peninsula that I can never remeber if its part of Africa or Asia.

But then also, the number of people saying 25 for quarter of an hour...

How often do people actually use "quarter of am hour" especially with digital clocks? So they get tripped up with quarter of a dollar.

A "quarter of an hour" is 25 minutes, according to the French Revolutionary calendar.

So you see this more as a cultural shift? There may well be a case for that.

I'll even give up 3 cubed, because no matter how basic that may be, it's not relevant to much of anything. But how many dimes in a dollar? Name three countries other than the U.S.? Those aren't trick questions.

That's where cherry-picking responses comes in. Ask 3 cubed on north campus (STEM departments at OSU) and you'd get 100% correct because they use it. South campus? Not nearly as much in arts and humanities. But they would be more likely to not call Africa a country.
