Seymour Hersh is going around and telling that the USA will launch an all go-in air strike on Iran this weekend. This means this sunday if what Hersh is telling becomes reality.

Targets are the nuclear sites, bases of Republican Guards, police stations and government offices.

The timing is a concession to Trump, who wants to delay to diminish the shock of bombing on Wall Street (as if Trump ever cared about that).

Trump's plan is to install a moderate religious leader afterwards as new head of state, while Israel wants a sock puppet in place. This is an open gap in goals between America and Israel.

The idea behind is to trigger a democratic uprising against the Ayatollahs, but they want to avoid a permanent failure like in Libya 2011.

YEP. It's kind of the sign of a big, powerful, delusional nation that we expect countries we bomb or invade to be grateful for the privilege. Also reminds me of a story from a number of years ago where someone in Estonia defaced an old soviet monument and Russian immigrants in Estonia acted shocked that Estonians didn't appreciate the occupation that much.

I'm not seeing much reporting on any international reaction, aside from Hezbollah.

Well China has the big advantage of having 3 1/2x the population of America. Even if nukes would go flying around, China will be still more powerful in terms of survivors.

And we do know from history how China reacts to invaders: they got patience and strike back when times comes like the Borg, quietly absorbing people. Take look at the Qing dynasty, which reigned from 1644 to 1912 and was of Manchurian ethnicity.

It was also the dynasty of the last Chinese emperor ever.

After WWII China insisted that the area of Manchuria belongs to it, because the Manchurians themselves told so and reigned China for centuries. As nobody insisted, it became part of PRC. For a long time China was part of Manchuria, not the other way around.

And then while on paper a protected minoirity, the identity, culture and ethnicity of Manchurians was slowly erased. Today they are really sinified visually, and most don't even speak their old language any longer.

The Borg from TNG are really quite a fitting analogy for the Chinese people.
