I really loathe Musk for his plagiarism, which is the lowest form of theft. Not only does he steal the credit for the work of his engineers, even the basic ideas about look and design are not his own:I know that people like this guy don't know anything whatsoever about Einstein or what he knew or did or specialized in, they just know of him on a surface pop-culture level as "that one famous smart person", and I don't really blame him for that ignorance. But Musk isn't a genius-level anything. He's just a nepo-baby businessman. He doesn't know anything about engineering or science. His only science degree is a BA. Even his economics degree is just a bachelor's. He has built a reputation by wantonly lying about his expertise, and people like this JPM exec drank the Stupid-flavor kool-aid.
Hyperloop
(Air Wonder Stories 10/1929)
Cybertruck
(Lamborghini Countach from "Automan" (1983))
(Concept art for "Back to the Future" from Ron Cobb)
SpaceX Starship
(Zarkov's rocket from "Flash Gordon")
Also take note of the high "pulp" content. All of these are pretty basic stories created for a certain age demographic. Even "Back to the Future" - while being a brilliant movie with great comedic timing, a perfect script and talented actors - is at its core just an adventure movie for a juvenile audience. This makes me wonder if Musk is capable of comprehending more complex stories with more character development.
