Also, if you remote turn on your car from a distance to warm it up every morning (and pollute and annoy all your neighbours) know that you're also slightly heating the snow underneath which then ices up.

After a big storm, that neighbour who has the tools and know-how to help may perhaps watch you from their window while having her coffee and toast with peanut butter.

Tesla’s postelection pop has almost disappeared.

Shares of the electric vehicle maker plunged more than 8% on Tuesday, pushing the company’s market cap below $1 trillion and to its lowest since Nov. 7, which was two days after President Donald Trump’s election victory.

The stock has plummeted 25% to start the year, while the Nasdaq is down just 1.5%, and has slid more than 35% from its record close on Dec. 16. CEO Elon Musk has lost more than $100 billion in net worth over that stretch, though he is still the world’s richest person, with a fortune valued at about $380 billion.

Hatred for Elon Musk seems to be everywhere one looks this week, from viral ads to Tesla's ever-plummeting stock value.

Tesla shareholders and the Musk will hate this move: NCAP, the independent safety body for the automotive industry creating the rules for the NCAP stars, will introduce a change starting with 2026. For full five-star rating it will then require cars to have physical controls for a certain set of major functionality!

“The overuse of touchscreens is an industry-wide problem, with almost every vehicle-maker moving key controls onto central touchscreens, obliging drivers to take their eyes off the road and raising the risk of distraction crashes,” said Matthew Avery, director of strategic development at Euro NCAP, to the Times. To be eligible for the maximum safety rating after the new testing guidelines go into effect, cars will need to use buttons, dials, or stalks for hazard warning lights, indicators, windscreen wipers, SOS calls, and the horn.

Best about it the NCAP is no governmental body, but a private institution. So this is no law, but a voluntary standard they are creating, but one with big reputation, so many car makers want to get as much stars as possible.
