"Kekius" appears to be a Latinisation of "kek", a word roughly equivalent to "laugh out loud" popularised by gamers but now often associated with the alt right.

"Kek" is also the name of the ancient Egyptian god of darkness, who is sometimes depicted with the head of a frog.
You learn something every day -- ever since I first saw the term, I've assumed that usage of an old dialect/slang word, meaning "shit" in my part of the world, was far wider than I thought.

Could be a metaphor for their relationship?

Someone in the truck died, and seven others were injured. If it was a message, it was an expensive and deadly message. I'm leaning toward battery fire, except that it didn't just catch fire. It exploded. Wondering now if big battery packs fail that way. Very curious.

Just for context on "Kek".

In the popular MMO World of Warcraft, there are two major factions, Alliance and Horde. Players in each faction can text chat freely to their own faction, but to the opposite faction, the text chat comes out as gibberish. This simulates each faction speaking different languages.

When a Horde player says "LOL" to an Alliance player, it shows up to the Appliance player as "KEK."

It doesn't roughly mean "laugh out loud.". It actually is just, "Laugh Out Loud" in Horde Speak in WoW.

This became used online on forums and 4chan to simply mean LOL. A common combination is to say "TOPKEK" which comes from a Turkish cupcake brand and is basically the equivilant to LMAO. Like its a "top tier LOL".

The way edgy 4chan types use it, I think I prefer my dialect interpretation. And certainly for Elon Musk's self-awarded title.

The vehicle was rented through the car rental company Turo, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation. McMahill said it was a “coincidence” that the truck used to ram into a crowd in New Orleans was also rented through Turo, and that authorities are investigating. CNN has reached out to the company.
TOTALLY A COINCIDENCE THAT THIS COMPANY THAT IS SO HUGE I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE WAS INVOLVED

Re: kek

Deliberately vague or multi-use bullshit is a standard in group-out group thing.

Remember a few years ago the OK hand sign got repurposed into some white power symbol the ‘trigger the libs’ types used as a dog whistle while hiding behind the ‘on paper’ use for OK.

I say we nuke Kekistan from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Yeah.... they love symbols that maintain a thin layer of plausible deniability. I think part of "kek" is that it's also kind of close to a slur for Jewish people.

lol don't feel bad I never heard of it either.

I -have- heard before of services that let you loan out your car Airbnb style, but I never knew the names of any of them because that's not something I would ever imagine a sane and responsible person doing.

Musk's attempts to interfere in the politics of various European countries (in the UK, support for Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, aka Tommy Robinson, talk of large donations to Nigel Farage's Reform Party, and general feud with Keir Starmer, support for AfD in Germany) are considered noteworthy over here.

I still don't understand the intent of the Los Vegas Cybertruck thing. Very capable military person detonates a low-yield explosive where there aren't a lot of people? If he wanted to do damage, why not drive the truck into the lobby? Wanted to kill people, why not do it somewhere else? Or in the lobby?

Maybe he was planning something else and set it off accidentally? He had apparently been there earlier, and was maybe scoping it out again? I can only figure he was counting on an EV battery fire being hard to put out. But outside the hotel?

I can't get over that this was a special forces guy who did something that amounts to so little. Like, if he'd stayed in his wheelhouse he'd have been more successful?

It's unfortunate the other guy wasn't so unsuccessful :(

Anyone's guess what motivated his mind. I can only speculate. An alternative explanation might be that he wanted to 'make a statement' but wasn't psychopathic 'enough' to take down an entire hotel and burn hundreds alive.
