He can't get over 60% in the primary against Haley. His core is shrinking. Plus a number of swing states are facing ballot measures on reproductive freedom that will drive turnout.

I would not say it's impossible, but the media are ignoring a lot of headwinds working against him.

That's the part that confuses me. I watch a lot of NOT NY times and read random blogs. Most all of what I read is ironically giving Orange a new microphone where his bullshit can be broadcast, even if they're saying "look at what this dummy said this time". A few individual hosts acknowledge that and try to explain, but even Morning Joe focuses way too much on the Mango Mussolini.

His best at-large polling numbers tell us that he's holding MAYBE 40% of probable voters, more likely in the 30's. He cannot count on 100% of those to vote. He's also constantly at war with his own image, spouting some new insanity every single day. (Lately he's claiming he's treated like a black :censored: ). He's losing support every day. How long before he's lost 90% of them?

‘Biden’s Brain Is Aging, Trump’s Is DEMENTING’

If you think former president Donald Trump is having more trouble talking, you’re right. He is. No one has to be a mental giant to figure this out. He speaketh fluent word salad. And mental health experts are saying, due to his slurred speech and real problems with constructing whole phrases, he seems to be developing dementia.

Speaking to Salon, Psychologist Dr. John Gartner, formerly of Johns Hopkins University Medical School said he believes Trump has shown signs of mental deterioration that are strongly linked to dementia.

Gartner, who contributed to the 2017 book The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President, and he’s kept up with the progression of the ex-president’s mental deterioration and has made it his business to let people know what’s going on. He’s bluntly warned that Trump is “showing gross signs of dementia” and said that other experts aren’t pointing these warning signs nearly enough, Raw Story and Inquisitr report.

Gartner explains that as Trump gets closer to obtaining the Oval Office again, he becomes more dangerous every day. Speaking to Salon’s Chauncey DeVega, he said, “There is also this focus on [President Joe] Biden’s gaffes or other things that are well within the normal limits of aging. By comparison, Trump appears to be showing gross dementia. This is a tale of two brains. Biden’s brain is aging Trump’s brain is dementing.”

In the Salon interview, Gartner explained that Trump shows signs of degenerating mentally by exhibiting phonemic paraphasias during his rally speeches. The psychiatrist pointed out this is “the substitution of non-words for words that sound similar—are not normally seen until a patient enters the moderate to severe stages of Alzheimer’s.”

I hope that the SCOTUS shows some balls when they come up with their ruling about Trump on the ballots or not.
Regardless of their courage, or lack thereof, I'm not convinced that keeping Trump off any state ballot is a "good thing."

Rather than block Trump at the state level, ideally he would have been disqualified at the national level. If we can't/won't do that, then he should be an option for everyone in the country. This is a national election; the entire nation should be voting on the same slate of candidates. A variable slate of main party candidates -- shifting according to state -- would further undermine people's trust in our system of electing a president. It's also a tactic that could be used against Democrats in future elections.

Which of course they didn't. :(
Nope. Our current SCOTUS has shown itself to be deep in Trump's pockets.

We need to get out in record numbers this November to vote and make sure Biden wins decisively in a landslide. Otherwise, bye-bye democracy in the US.

For reasons of completeness: the US supreme court ruled this Monday that single states are not allowed to delete Trump from ballots.

The most interesting takeaway from the ruling is that all judges were of the same opinion here.

It was probably the best choice really. I mean, if they had hypothetically ruled in favor of removal, then how many Red States would immediately remove Biden from the Ballot.

For what? It wouldn't matter. Technically Trump has not been convicted of anything anymore than Biden, so they can produce whatever justification they want. They can just call it treason.

I mean, yes, Trump is actually a treasonous asshole, but he has not actually been convicted of it.

We had our best chance to convict and ban him in one of Trump's impeachment votes but the R's and McConnell screwed that up.

I'll be honest - I'm afraid worrying too much about "disenfranchising voters" will actually end up putting the US in a nightmare scenario by allowing Trump & his insurrectionist buddies a chance to gain the appearance of legitimate politicians instead of anti-establishment tyrants. IMO, they disenfranchised themselves already by not informing themselves. When so many R voters never heard Trump's claims about wanting to be dictator for one day, we have to treat them like children learning to read. What will we do if/when one of those insurrectionists takes the reins of government and become 100 times harder to impeach despite their cluelessness?

I'm not sure what I'm proposing here - just that while we logically should protect everyone's vote, a lot of those votes are based on misinformation, Fox News (same thing), religious misinformation and Russian trolls. I, personally, can't count those as legit votes -- they want to dismantle our democracy, not bolster and sustain it. They would be perfectly happy in a Trumpian world where the rich are the only ones with power and the rest of us can go screw ourselves.

If not enough people see, want to see or don't understand that a second term of Trump will mean a major catastrophe, the USA and the world peace are doomed IMHO.
Every one who does see it and is physically capable, should be out in the streets to try and get as much people as possible to vote Democratic the upcoming elections. Even though Biden is given his age not a real great candidate either anymore.
