Summary of the story: More of those unfulfilled promises by Musk. Maybe we have him all wrong. Maybe he's just a really good scam artist.

Woke judge.

A Florida judge, Reid Scott, has ruled that there's "reasonable evidence" to conclude that Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk knew of defects in Autopilot systems and failed to fix them. Testimony from Tesla engineers and internal documents showed that Musk was "intimately involved" in Tesla's Autopilot program and "acutely aware" of a sometimes-fatal defect—where Autopilot repeatedly fails to detect cross traffic, Scott wrote.

"Knowing that the Autopilot system had previously failed, had limitations" and, according to one Tesla Autopilot systems engineer, "had not been modified, Tesla still permitted the 'Autopilot' system to be engaged on roads that encountered areas of cross traffic," Scott wrote.
Because a jury could perhaps consider that a "conscious disregard or indifference to the life" of Tesla drivers, Scott granted a motion to seek punitive damages to Kim Banner, whose husband Jeremy was killed in 2019 when his "Model 3 drove under the trailer of an 18-wheeler big rig truck that had turned onto the road, shearing off the Tesla's roof," Reuters reported. Autopilot allegedly failed to warn Jeremy or respond in any way that could have avoided the collision, like braking or steering the vehicle out of danger, Banner's complaint said.

Woke judge.

Well it's not like the dawn project hasn't been telling people this since years. Their founder, Dan O'Dowd, is also a software person, but the exact opposite to Musk.

O'Dowd, being a supplier to the aviation industry and air force, is of the opinion that you must create your product with the utmost care to ensure it's safe to use for everybody.

Musk on the other hand is what people do call banana software: when shipped to the customer it's still buggy and green, it then matures there. Personally I would love to have more O'Dowds and less Musks and Rushs.

The Swedish strikes are a gift which keeps on giving, because now Danish dock workers as well do refuse to unload Tesla cars.

Also Tesla is now suing Sweden because of the strikes on alleging an “unlawful discriminatory attack” on the firm. The background is that only one company in Sweden sends license plates out, state owned Postnord. And this company now sided with the metal workers, meaning you can buy a Tesla in Sweden, but will not get the license plate, so you cannot drive it. One recent ruling was actually in favor of Tesla, if Postnord will still withhold the license plates.

The reason why the strike in Sweden started is that Tesla refused to sign a bargaining agreement with the Swedish Metalworkers' Union. 120 mechanics in Tesla's Swedish subsidiary earn less than the industry average and have worse pension and insurance conditions.

The real bulletproofness of Cybertruck is that when someone is trying to shoot at it, they will be laughing at how ugly it is too much to aim properly.

I think they used fragmentation rounds or hollow point ammunition.

Those bullets have low penetrative power.

They're also small, mostly used in handguns, which means they don't have much mass and kinetic energy.

I'd like to see that truck get shot with something like an AR-15.

Presumably the target market is those open carry, Second Amendment enthusiasts who seem to feel it's necessary to arm themselves to the teeth when they just pop down to the shops to buy a pint of milk.

Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. "I need to defend myself with lethal force, because I'm such an asshole that people want to kill me!" (oh yeah? We'll maybe we'd all be better off if they succeed, bastard!)
