Not sure what to infer from this.

I mean, he's notoriously unconfined by the requirements of veracity and honesty, so it can't simply be that he deliberately dodged the question because he couldn't bring himself to tell a direct untruth if that would be more convenient or safer for him.

Anyone know what's up with this nonsense?

It means that the President of the United States has fabricated an enemy out of whole cloth whom he believes is out to get him. Then when that so-called enemy has a difficult turn of events, the President of the United States takes the high road and gloats about his enemy's misfortune via a tweet. Also, this transpired on the Sabbath. Best of all, the President of the United States appears to believe that going through a divorce is equivalent to being "taken down." What makes this interesting, is that even if the enemy loses half of everything he is still a couple order of magnitudes richer than the President.

I need to make up a list of enemies. The idea of making up whole interactions and struggles with them sounds like fun.

Maybe he is spinning the story on the FBI opening a russia investigation as all about the fact that the post did not get this particular scoop?

Every now and then I see shit like that and become utterly convinced this can't be real. But then I realize it is and just Jackie-Chan-WTF until my arms go limp from exhaustion.

My brain can't parse it anymore. I can't even try to read the news for understanding, the WTF is too much.

A Complete Psychological Analysis of Trump's Support

https://www.quora.com/Whats-something-a-therapist-knows-that-would-scare-most-people/answer/Scott-M-Carter-1?ch=2&srid=As9T

41 percent of Republicans are uncomfortable with a woman president, poll indicates

I believe all these things are interconnected. We're reaping the whirlwind because the extreme damage and violence of our national past are still embedded in our racism, our churches, our child-rearing practices and our gender roles.

Even if we got rid of Trump/Pence/McConnell, we'd still have to deal with the brain damaged part of the population that's too deep in their stupidity to understand they are not only not superior to the rest of us, we're actually laughing at them, when we're not avoiding them.

I'm completely grim by now.

I think a lot of them realize they're being laughed at - they've been laughed at for a long time, and this is their "shoe on the other foot now" moment. There are dedicated Trump supporters who are keenly aware that he is a fraud, and a Russian stooge, and an incompetent idiot who is doing genuine damage to the country, but they're okay with that because he makes all the people who've been laughing at them so impotently angry.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to understand this part of their psyche. It is like burning down a house while you're in it, just because someone else is also in it.

These people have such a shaky grasp of reality by now - after so much programming - i'm done with trying to reach them. It doesn't help that a substantial fraction of them are literally damaged by their own or their parents' addictions. Almost all of them live in the alternate reality of media. We can't appeal to self-interest in people who can't identify it themselves. They're basically in a cult.

I think it is that some people are just mired in hatred. They hate other people because they are smart or successful or the wrong color or sex or what have you; in particular if they, themselves are not successful. They elected Donald Trump to hurt everyone they hate. Like the woman who has been affected by the shutdown and complained that he was hurting the wrong people, they have no grasp of his being a complete and utter con man. They believe that he hates the same people, but it appears that he just hates everyone with the exception of strongman dictators. If he hurts those that they want hurt it is merely a byproduct and he certainly has no goal of ever helping them. The only thing or people he wishes to help is himself to any monies that he can use the position of president to gain, whether legal or not.

He is the epitome of the completely amoral business man and a damn good example of why "We need to run the government like a business" must die.

What's the old saying? "Methinks he doth protest too much?" Every time he opens his mouth, he reaffirms the opinion that he's the stupidest President we've ever had:

Trump denies working for Russia, calls past FBI leaders ‘known scoundrels’

Speaking of scoundrels: Papadopoulos, Manafort, Gates, Flynn, Richard Pinedo, Alex van der Zwaan, Konstantin Kilimnik, Michael Cohen, 13 Russian nationals, three Russian companies and 12 Russian GRU officers have all been indicted by Mueller so far. But, no, Trump has no business with Russia. Chuckle chortle.

When the truth is found
To be lies
And all the joy
Within you dies
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love, love

:poop:

Turns out, Trump’s been burying records of his conversations with Putin.

The Post disclosed that Trump had “gone to extraordinary lengths” to bury details of conversations he had with Putin, including “on at least one occasion taking possession of the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired with other administration officials.” The net effect of Trump’s maneuvers, the Post noted, is that there now isn’t a detailed record — even in the federal government’s classified files — of his personal conversations with Putin at five locations over the past two years.

Trump is quoting from a racist Patrick Buchanan article now. But the conservatives will still be too busy slathering on about motherfuckergate to notice.
He (or the quoted article) says that America "as we have known it" will vanish. From the point of view of anyone included in that 'we', he's right. It already has, and it's not coming back. Welcome to the future.

Exactly, I do not bother trying to reach them. It was sort of like when someone from a church found out I was an athiest so wanted to convert me the other day. I pointed out to her that there are lots of religions on the planet so how does she know hers was the correct one --- she matter-of-factly said all the others were wrong and hers was right. Sorry, she just lost her right to a discussion with me if she does not see the logical fallacies in that statement.

As to Rs getting political leanings from their parents ..... that would make for an interesting study. I know a lot of Ds who have both Ds and Rs as parents but the Rs I know often have R parents.

Anyone know what's up with this nonsense?

Donald Trump practices all seven of the deadly sins on a daily basis. This time it is Envy. Jeff's father was an engineer. Rather than making Jeff rich, like Trump's father did, Jeff made his dad rich through being an early investor in Amazon. Bezos is far richer than Trump, owns more land (300,000 acres in south Texas), the biggest house in Washington DC, and is now moving into Trump's home turf, the borough of Queens in New York City, in a big way. Jeff did it legally, from scratch, in 25 years.

Although Bezos owns 18% of Amazon, he owns the Washington Post as a separate company. Trump should be familiar with this concept, since the Trump Organization is made up of ~250 separate legal entities. That he conflates the two just shows once again that he's an idiot, and the name-calling shows that he never outgrew his childish need to feel powerful.

More people are dying of opioid overdoses now than car crashes. Those deaths are preferentially concentrated in coal country. Not only do people in those areas want to bring back the "good old days", which is why they voted for Trump, but a fair number seem to realize those days are never coming back, and are killing themselves off, intentionally or not.
