Infamous ex-pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli has been released from federal prison after serving less than five years of a seven-year sentence for a securities and wire fraud conviction. He is now moving into a US Bureau of Prisons halfway house at an undisclosed location in New York until September 14, 2022.
Shkreli was convicted in August 2017 on two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud in connection to what federal prosecutors called a Ponzi-like scheme involving two hedge funds Shkreli managed. In March 2018, a federal judge sentenced him to seven years, which he was serving in minimum security federal prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania.

I might say it takes a corrupt person to recognize corruption, but... is he competent enough to even be corrupt?
One key beneficiary of that influx of cash is Sinclair Broadcast Group, the No. 2 owner of local TV stations in the U.S. The company’s CEO, Chris Ripley offered his outlook on political ads and other topics in an appearance at the MoffettNathanson 9th Annual Media and Communications Summit.
Guess which hand he's expected to hold up?“Some of these primary races are crazy,” Ripley said. He cited Ohio, where Donald Trump-backed U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance prevailed in a hard-fought contest. The $75 million spent on TV ads for the primary was 40 times more than what was spent on the primary in the last election, Ripley said, and four times more than the last general election.
“On the one hand, I lament that we’re in the political environment that we are,” Ripley said. “On the other hand, it’s very good for our business.”
It's like crimes have no real consequences anymore. At least, not if you're white.Chaser:

Well they do make you guest speak at republican gatherings as the guest of honor... That's pretty cruel and unusual. It's like crimes have no real consequences anymore. At least, not if you're white.

Oof. Maybe it's time to link up with 1-2 other nearby towns for some of these positions and services.Christen Bouchard was the town clerk in Passadumkeag, Maine, since 2020. She requested a two-week vacation about a month and a half ago. Her plea was denied by the board of selectmen. They claimed that no one was available to step in for her.
She left on April 7. The town has had no one to register vehicles, keep crucial records, or communicate with the state Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
The position of town clerk isn’t the only important opening in Passadumkeag. The town of 356 people also lacks a code enforcement officer, an assessor, an animal control officer, and a school administration official, according to The Bangor Daily News.

So $13500 / (16 * 52) = $16.22 / hour. Seems rather low for a skilled position like that, not to mention all the extra hours she put in.Bouchard said she performed her duties while being paid $13,500 a year to work 16 hours a week, though in reality, she worked far more than that. Most days, she was the only person in the town office whom residents could interact with when they needed help with something or had a question.
