More to the point, you don't think they will have metal detectors and bomb sniffing dogs at the Capitol this time? Or that the insurrectionist's social media isn't being monitored?![]()
Capitol Police chief warns extremists 'want to blow up the Capitol' when Biden addresses Congress
The acting chief said members of militia groups want to "kill as many members as possible" in an attack during Biden's coming address.www.nbcnews.com
When I first heard about someone wanting to blow up the Capitol I thought it was the Boogaloo Bois, or some other group that's against any government. But these are the former guy's supporters. What do they hope to gain from this? They can't possibly think they could bring him back at this point?
I don't know anything about the US law on homicide except that it's very different from English law, but I can see why, in general, the prosecutors might be nervous about charging it as murder, partly because of the difficulties in proving that the bear spray caused his death (I don't know the medical details, obviously) and partly because I'm not sure how easy it would be to prove that the defendant was reckless as to whether he killed the officer or not when he sprayed him with the substance -- reckless as to whether he caused him severe pain, and injury to his eyes and lungs, certainly, but reckless as to whether he inflicted fatal injuries?I'd have thought this would apply : Depraved-heart murder - Wikipedia
Or that 10,000 armed National Guardsmen will be waiting for you.More to the point, you don't think they will have metal detectors and bomb sniffing dogs at the Capitol this time? Or that the insurrectionist's social media isn't being monitored?

A data leak exposed the identities and other personal information of military service members and others involved in a right-wing paramilitary group.
The data leak from the American Patriots Three Percent website revealed the names, phone numbers and photographs of members -- who ranged in age from their 20s to 70s and were drawn from a variety of backgrounds -- that were obtained by activists who posted the information on an internet archiving site, reported The Guardian.
"A lot of us are former military, former law enforcement," said Phillip Whitehead, who spoke to the newspaper by phone. "Some of us have had high level security clearance. This has put myself and my family at risk."

One of the activists who discovered the leak, whose name has been withheld due to safety concerns, said that the WordPress site’s poorly configured membership plugin left those details exposed to public view. Additional materials seen by the Guardian confirm that claim and show that the materials were obtained by a simple search technique.
The data gathered so far includes indications of contact with lawmakers in the days around January 6, as well as communications between alleged rioters discussing their associations with members of Congress, the official said.
The existence of such communications doesn't necessarily indicate wrongdoing by lawmakers and investigators aren't yet targeting members of Congress in the investigation, the official noted. Should investigators find probable cause that lawmakers or their staffs possibly aided the insurrectionists, they could seek warrants to obtain the content of the communications. There's no indication they've taken such a step at this point.
Amazing. No one could write this TV series and have it end up being called realistic.
