Pains me to stand up for anyone foolish enough to wear a MAGA hat, but I think the students were misrepresented. There's longer videos showing a 3rd group at the scene being verbally hostile to the Native Americans when the students show up (iirc). From that perspective it looks a lot more like the students decided to show solidarity by standing with the Native Americans as almost a human shield between them and the 3rd group.

Astonishing.

The Justice Department’s top leaders listened in stunned silence this month: One of their peers, they were told, had devised a plan with President Donald Trump to oust Jeffrey Rosen as acting attorney general and wield the department’s power to force Georgia state lawmakers to overturn its presidential election results.

The unassuming lawyer who worked on the plan, Jeffrey Clark, had been devising ways to cast doubt on the election results and to bolster Trump’s continuing legal battles and the pressure on Georgia politicians. Because Rosen had refused the president’s entreaties to carry out those plans, Trump was about to decide whether to fire Rosen and replace him with Clark.
The department officials, convened on a conference call, then asked one another: What will you do if Rosen is dismissed?

The answer was unanimous. They would resign.

Their informal pact ultimately helped persuade Trump to keep Rosen in place, calculating that a furor over mass resignations at the top of the Justice Department would eclipse any attention on his baseless accusations of voter fraud.

Remember when McConnell was talking about how the Senate calendar is such that impeachment can be considered by the senate either 1 hour after Biden is sworn in, or 1 day after?

Now they are pushing it back two fucking weeks!

I wouldn't mind so much if Trump was sitting in prison awaiting trial without bail, but this is stupid. We need to get Trump taken care of. He's down there in Mar a Lago fomenting god knows what, while congress 'focuses on Biden's cabinet'. Trump must be removed from play, and put in prison, so we never have to deal with him again. This doesn't even have to take that much time. This has to be the easiest votes to whip the Senate has ever seen. They could convict the guy in an hour if they wanted to.

Once he's taken care of, we still have the issue of removing senators who serve in violation of the 14th amendment. That would probably take more time. I can understand wanting to take care of Trump's impeachment before getting to them. Will it happen, though? Seeing how they are all slow walking the Trump trial, I doubt it. I think the senators who provided material support to the terrorists who attacked the capitol are going to keep serving for a long time to come, because congress doesn't want to do their jobs.

McConnell is not the majority leader any more. There's nobody left to blame for this but Pelosi, Schumer, and the rest of the democratic party leadership.

Do we know for certain that the directions given would, in fact, have led them to the tunnels or that the legislators were hiding in them, or, if they weren't, if that's where their designated safe room is?

I'm not being sceptical, but those are the obvious things to verify.

I have read some of their pre-planning messages prior to the attack and they seemed to have an obsession with the tunnels. They were attempting to conjure a plan by which when the congress critters would emerge from said tunnels they would fall right into the insurrectionist hands.

As to whether that was based upon any reality of how the congress members would depart, I do not know and doubt that would be revealed for future safety measures. Maybe they will reveal if they were actually there during the attempted insurrection or one of those traitorous members will reveal it.

In the Euromaidan Revolution, democrats brought down a corrupt, pro-Putin president.

In Belarus, protestors have shown immense and sustained courage over the months, protesting against an election stolen by another corrupt, pro-Putin president.

In Russia, protestors similarly protest against Putin himself, after the attempted murder and then arrest of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

In the USA ... well, those protestors and Republican legislators should feel bloody well ashamed of themselves, is all I can say.

(It's like that "in Soviet Russia" meme, only gone horribly wrong).

That bothered me, too -- QAnon are fascinated with tunnels, I gather, as are many other cranks and conspiracists.
