I'm curious about the changes to security planning around the Inauguration that surely must be going on right now. Given where it happens, the Capitol Police would usually be the largest part of the arrangements I'm assuming. But the chief of the Capitol Police has resigned, and there has to be like a huge loss of confidence in that agency's planning and coordination abilities right now. Obviously the Secret Service will be there, but their gig is watching for snipers and rapid extraction when the stuff goes down - like we saw with Pence in the Capitol - not defending an area from a crowd. I mean, I'm sure Capitol Police will be present; but I wonder if someone else will be in charge.

By the way, it's worth a post to bring attention to how good a job the Secret Service did on the 6th protecting Pence. Nobody anywhere is really talking about it, but that's like literally a sign of how well they did - nobody even knows where Pence was between the moment they yanked him out of the Senate chamber and when he finally reappeared back in Congress once they restarted. Was he still in the building? Was he still in the city? Who knows. That's pro level.

The numbers attending will be greatly reduced from normal, of course, which will be a great assistance, but it's still a huge concern.

The report quotes Michael Chertoff, George W Bush's homeland security secretary:

What Donald Trump did was a betrayal of public trust and a violation of his oath of office. There’s no question that what we saw this week was incited by the rhetoric that he has been using now for weeks and that inspired and mobilised extremist rightwingers and conspiracy theorists.”

Chertoff likened the riot at the Capitol to 9/11. “On 9/11 we worried that one of the planes was going to hit the Capitol building. In this case, the Capitol building was hit. It was domestic terror, and absolutely shocking.”

[....]
“There is going to be a persistent challenge over the next months, depending on how active Donald Trump is when he’s out of office, in terms of domestic terrorism inspired by him directly or by rightwing extremist and conspiracy groups. This is going to be the security challenge for the foreseeable future.”

Honestly... I hope they cancel it and go full virtual. With the pandemic, we have a great excuse even if it's really more about security concerns.

Oh I would set up big live transmission screens, ... and pill boxes with machine gunners just in case they want some express tickets to hell.

I'll bet odds that he's former Air Force. if people want to know why i think that, feel free to ask and I'll explain.
This crowd sourcing researcher on Twitter IDed him, but I don't think we know for certain that he's air force yet.

Air Force is probably a good guess, for multiple reasons, but circumstantially, one other guy who was with him has been identified as retired USAF Lt. Col Larry Brock.

IDK what the hell the air force is doing out there in their academy, but it needs to stop. We clearly need legislators to investigate and remove radicals from their training programs.

Is there a prison education program one can support? I would just want to make sure the traitor's fellow inmates will know the so called patriots were the same folks who demanded harder penalties.

First of all, that guy is awesome... second of all I wanted to point out that SO MUCH of why bullshit like Pizza Gate and Q-Anon exists is because... the reality of liberals just isn't scary enough to rally against. The fact that democrats want to institute universal healthcare, something that has already been proven to work all over the world, isn't scary enough. That's actually a hard thing to argue against, so conservatives felt the need to just make up a bunch of shit to rally the stupid legions to their side.

I was talking to a friend earlier today about how a lot of republicans we know even have mostly liberal views... they think CEO's make too much, they don't care that gays can get married and aren't scared of universal healthcare... they vote Republican because they are sold on the anti democrat propaganda to one degree or another. There are also different levels of propaganda to scare people of different intelligence levels.... like, if you're dub as a box of rocks, there is Q-Anon. Republicans who are too rational for that are still often sold on the idea that dems want to mimic Mao's China or Soviet Russia.

Oh, they will know. Prisoners have jailouse lawyers who have ways of getting people's 'packets'. This guy on YouTube talks a lot about what prison is like, I think this is one of the videos where he talks about how one of his prison hustles was getting people's packets. Maybe. His videos are kinda long, I'm not sure if this is the right video, but he talks about packets in a lot of his videos. If somebody's packet has something like pedophilia, they will have a bad time.

I think the terrorists from Wed are probably going to join up with their Aryan Brotherhood buddies and have a good time in prison.
