And I think he realizes that Trump may have destroyed his chances of ever running successfully.
Oh, he'll run - from the law. I'm sure he's done enough wrong-doing to be in legal trouble once a real Justice Department is functioning again.

The storming of the capitol was maybe the best outcome of all of the bs that has been accumulating over the years. Imagine if Trump was more sane without all this election was stolen nonsense and in solidarity with the republicans. Instead he probably gave the Georgia elections to the democrats. The capitol invasion gave focus to the issue of bringing the right wing under control in a dramatic way.

It's this sort of response that makes me interested in visiting one of their franchises. But, gee...Olive Garden... :kittyball:
Olive Garden would know about viscous attacks though.

A horrible thought has occurred to me.

People keep saying that Mike Pence should invoke the 25th Amendment.

Well, assuming he decides that he'll do that, what does it mean, in practical terms?

I mean, there's a whole procedure to go through, with Pence securing the agreement of however many secretaries of state it is, and then they notify someone and things happen.

Well, this is all very well if Trump has been taken ill or something, and can't do anything, but that's not the problem here.

Trump's certainly well enough to create all sorts of havoc once he gets to hear that Pence and the rest are moving against him

(Come to think of it, this might be why people are starting to resign at this late stage, so it's no longer their problem).

Sounds like they got the guy in Alabama who left a pipe bomb and his truck full of weapons and ammunition outside the Capitol during the riot.
So it turns out he's from a little town of 1200 people called Falkville. I lived there from 1994-2006. Fuck, I might know the guy. I mean, I knew the area was full of rednecks, but not bomb-throwers.

I was working for Boeing at the time, and commuted up to Huntsville. Housing was cheap in the area, and having grown up in New York City, I wanted elbow room. The town basically consists of a truck stop and a handful of industrial shops at the exit on Interstate-65, and then a bunch of farms, woods, and some individual homes on smaller lots.

Pence isn't going to do it, but presumably they would have the 11 people needed plus Pence sign a piece of paper behind his back.

This is what I meant when explaining that these people exist en masse in the deep South and they are very dangerous. They're not just good old country boy rebels; they're crazy, delusional, and easily whipped into mob mentality. Similar scenes occur regularly in Alabama for practically no reason. Hey it's Tuesday we're drunk and tired of being told we have stop traffic for black people's funeral processions get the flags load your guns PATRIOTS UNTIE1

not even kidding

We call it Salt Garden but probably because we cook most of our own food and add other spices with very little salt.

OK. They've got the piece of paper signed. Now what?

And once the 25th Amendment has been formally signed, sealed and delivered, how do people learn that it's happened?

The whole procedure is fraught with risk.

It's not so much that anything dreadful is bound to happen, but there are so many points at which things could very easily go wrong, and with potentially catastrophic consequences, that Pence, if he's thinking on those lines at all, must be thinking very hard indeed about how to proceed.

To my mind, Pence's duty is pretty clear -- Trump's obviously incapable -- but so is his duty not to make a dreadful situation even worse.

Quite apart from his actual motivations, I'm really not sure what the least bad course of action would be at this stage.

I don't think the 25th Amendment was designed for this -- it's for when the President is incapacitated in the sense of flat on his back in hospital and unconscious, not when he's ... well, whatever the word is for Trump's condition at the moment.

"Manic"? "Delirious"? (Obviously there are plenty of words I could use, but I'm trying to think of something neutral you'd put in a legal document).

Someone goes on TV?

It's all irrelevant since Pence isn't going to do it.

The procedure has never been used before, but it goes broadly like this:
  1. The VP and a majority of the Cabinet* sign a letter stating that the President is unable to perform the duties of office.
  2. The letter is delivered to the House and Senate leaders. This is the point where the VP now becomes acting President and the President has no authority under the Constitution.
  3. Congress must be recalled within 48 hours if not in session.
  4. From that point, they have 21 days to determine if a disability exists. If a vote fails (2/3 required), the President resumes office.
This late in the term, receiving the letter would be enough. They could sit out the clock on Trump's term without holding a vote.

*Congress can designate another body to replace the Cabinet, but they can not by-pass the Vice President.

Sorry, I put the wrong link in that post. Still relevant, but that's not about Trump's account, it's about Flynn and Powell.

So, the list of places Trump has been purged from so far is...

Twitter
Facebook/Instagram
Reddit (The_Donald has been gone for a while, but they just banned /r/donaldtrump yesterday, I think)

Despite reports to the contrary floating around out there, Trump does still have a MySpace page. Rumor has it he's setting up an onlyfans next. I hope he goes on Cameo. I want to pay him $5 to admit he lost the election, LOL

Trump and his allies getting permenently booted from Twitter?

I've been digging around for the last 15 minutes trying to find Trump's last tweet, to see what the last straw was, but I can't find it. Looks like when they remove an account, they really remove an account.
