Honestly, I think that a deal was made between the republican party and Trump whereby he would concede, disavow the ransacking of the capitol and for then for the next 10 days STFU and if he did that, the party would not vote to impeach or invoke the 25th on him. The last speech he gave was so pulled together that I can't in my wildest imagination, believe he wrote it. The party did and told him to read it.

My guess is also that Pence is running the show now and making any decisions that have to be made for the country between now and the 20th, because how can anyone trust that tangerine megalomaniac to make any further decisions?

I think you are probably 100% right about the Trump statement. His tone, his attitude, were completely different, and he was very decidedly unhappy with the words he was saying.

I think you may well be right about Pence, too. In truth I don't think much of any "executive type decisions" are going to be made between now and the 19th, but I do think that if any will be made it's mostly Pence who will be making them.

Pence reportedly hasn't even communicated with Trump since before Trump's rally on the 6th. He's been working from the Vice President's residence.

Mmm...you may be right. I think I was able to decipher the word riot in there somewhere on a 3rd, 4th, 5th listen. On the first few listens I couldn't for the life of me decipher the words in the middle and thought it was genuine.

Pence is also obviously sulking right now. Anyone with a brain knows he was never a motivated or animated member of the "Trump Train". He joined because he wants to be President someday, and probably the easiest path to become President is to get picked up for a Vice-Presidency. That was his entire stake in this administration, IMO. And I think he realizes that Trump may have destroyed his chances of ever running successfully.

So, I had a thought...

So, using article 25 does not remove the ability for Twitler to try and pardon himself, or even ask for a pardon. And it definitely does not keep him from ever holding office.

Only an impeachment keeps him from being pardoned ever, and from ever holding office.

Right now, I'd lay odds that Romney would remain firmly a yes to impeach - negating Pence from having to tiebreak. I'd also half expect a few of the cagier republicans to maybe do the same. [Hell, if i were a republican in congress or the senate, I'd be ready to excise the cancer from my body and rebuild].

Anyway, obviously, I'm not any of these things - if I were, I'd have article 5.4 on the 21 of jan 2017, or voted to impeach the first time around.
