I feel broken.

Each new outrage fills me with the need to vent my incredulity and frustration with how fucked up this country has gotten under Twitler the Festering Anal Fissure.

No semblance of dignity, class, honor, respectability, ethics, morality, sanity, reasonableness, practicalness or even likability.

National security is in tatters. A magic 8-ball toy would provide better leadership. Our environmental protections are being gutted. Our constitution is being shat all over. Our diplomacy and relations with our allies needs life support. Our role as 'world leader' is COMPLETELY dead.

We are The Shithole Country now, and even with Biden/Harris and the kick-in-the-nuts to Mitch McTurtlefuckhead.... I'm not sure we've got the ability to climb even halfway out of this hole over the next four years.

Trump shouldn't be impeached or 25'd... he should be tried for treason, declared an enemy combatant, convicted and buried alive in a septic tank in Guantanamo Bay. Same goes for Mitch, Pence, Cruz, Hawley, Barr, Gramm, Miller, DeVos, K.Conway, McEnany, Navarro, Nunes, Kushner, Giuliani, Stone, Flynn, Gaetz, ... and numerous others that I'll no doubt think of in the next few minutes.

But as usual, nothing will happen to anyone else, and 'for the sake of peace and unity we're going to move forward and pretend like everyone's sorry for what they did even though they aren't and they'll just try harder next time'.

I still place the blame for most of this squarely on FOXnews and their associated network of political action groups. They wanted government small enough and weak enough that it could be drowned in a bathtub. And it seems like they managed to succeed in undermining it at -every- level.

Those complicit with this damage to our country should not know peace for the rest of their days.
Don't forget Greene - that woman already makes Gaetz look like a fine upstanding young man... which takes a lot of doing. [She's also my mom's congresscritter now and deep Q, openly]

You and me both, Jopsy. I've had moments of outrage and disgust these past 4 years, but yesterday was so incredibly outrageous I ran out of words and even anger at how bad it got.

Bearing in mind that the culprits were only a couple of thousand wingnuts who were cleared from the grounds once the cops got their act together, I hesitate to exaggerate the impact of what happened except to point out that every political ploy a politician pulls off comes at the cost of *some* political capital . Yesterday, I think Trump finally expended the last reserves of his political capital. He had the protection of a lot of R congressmen who have now changed their minds and are finally finding a little backbone (with 13 days left). I wish it had happened earlier, but this is where we are.

The mask is off. Trump is the same toxic narcissist he's always been, but now his real self is finally exposed for what it is. A wannabe tyrant.

By the way, I removed my cousin on FB today [she's distant, but local, if that makes sense].

She actually believes these insurrectionis were peaceful protestors and they were infiltrated by Antifa.

Thing is, while I hold her at fault for stupidity, the real fault lies with any 'news' media saying this is what happened.

This no longer is free speech, this is yelling fire in a crowded thatre. Each of these need to be dealt with, legally.

Oh no, there's no way. Fixing ourselves internally and our reputation externally are jobs that are going to take multiple administrations. Even my wildest dreams don't involve the possibility of us saying four years from now that Biden has saved the country. And I don't mean that as a judgment of Biden.

I'm okay posting this because the guy isn't named or doxxed but it's also funny

That is interesting...

I've said for years that Trump is not actually a real estate mogul. He is a MLM mogul. If you really follow the money, he got rich off pyramid scams. Direct marketing is just one aspect of these scams.

I bet if you trace all this back you end up with companies like Amway and Herbalife being behind the coup.

One thing I don't get is that 2 or 3 terrorists died yesterday from "apparent medical emergencies."

WTF is an apparent medical emergency? I mean, I'm glad to see a terrorist die, but 'medical emergency' just sounds shady to me. Maybe they had a stroke, or fell off the wall they were trying to climb and landed on their heads, but 'suicide' by plutonium poisoning can also be a medical emergency.

The National Guard are not "police" but are occasionally called in to aide in such things. Which they had not been, until very late yesterday.
The National Guard are the "organized militia" of the United States. They are backup for the uniformed military, in theory in cases of invasion or insurrection. Aside from the weird situation in D.C. they are directed by state governors with a military chain of command.

They have training and equipment, but mostly are only called up two weeks a year to keep their training current. Most of the time they get activated in domestic emergencies. They *can* get called up for active duty, overseas even, but that's normally people with specific skills, not for combat. Not sure if the people who were called up in D.C. were on their two weeks, or were called up from home, which means first going to their Guard post and picking up their gear.

Trump has been banned from Facebook. This is Zuckburgers statement on the matter.

It's BS. The current context is NOT fundamentally different. It's only superficially different now in a way that happens to make it impossible to keep pretending there's a rational excuse for continuing to platform a dangerous lunatic.

According to the spouse, the mayor of DC has requested the NG from Virginia because she doesn't trust the DC NG because of who commands it. Also, iirc, that same individual controls all the other types of cops in DC so.... yeah.

One woman I've heard was crushed to death during a part of the crowd surge. I also think I heard something about a heart attack, but I'm not sure at all.

I think "apparent medical emergencies" is just being used to code that they weren't killed by law enforcement or attacked by others in the mob.

Btw. has the USAF started investigations to posthumously strip the the shot woman of any ranks if found guilty of treason? It's too early to strip her immediately but this should be worth keeping a watch on.
Legally its sedition. In the US [sadly] Treason is very specifically colluding with an enemy during a war. Technically, we're not at war [technically], so treason isn't an option. Insurrection and sedition, though.... yeah.

I believe it falls under "sedition" -- "conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch."
You know how people say "there's an app for that"? Well, in the US, there's a law for that

18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
Since they interfered with the Constitution and the Electoral Count Act (which describes the process for counting the electoral votes), that meets one of the conditions, and seizing the Capitol is another. And way more than two persons involved. I'd include Donnie as one of those persons.

I was just curious if or why some people in other countries might feel differently, or have a different understanding of the role of the security details of their politicians, or expect a different outcome.

I mean clearly, these people had no fear? Is it not widely known this is the policy?
The Capitol is a huge building. Not only were the 538 legislators there, but tons of staff and media. I would expect their first priority was to get all those people to safety. They would only shoot to kill, or fight with the invaders if they had to. Many of the people were sheltering within the building, since there was a mob outside. So the security folks would stay with them to continue protecting them. Whatever was left was badly outnumbered, and they didn't know which of the invaders might be armed. So they didn't try to push them out until reinforcements arrived. Again, its a huge building with multiple floors and a lot of offices. So even with reinforcements it took time to clear the building, after which they started pushing back the mob outside the building. I watched them using flash-bang and gas as part of the process. It wasn't all gentle persuasion.

Funny you mention that. The DeVos/Prince family money came from Amway. Their father Richard DeVos Sr, was the co-founder. Prince has, most definitely, had a hand in moving toward a coup. I've posted repeatedly on his activities.

Most recent thing I've heard indicates they think she was shot by Pence's Secret Service team, who were working on getting him to safety - which would explain the quick shooting.
From what it appears to me, the picture going around with two agents pointing a gun at a broken window as they were behind a barricaded door match up with being on the other side of the window that the Air Force gal tried to break into. The agent on the right (left in the video from her side of the door) is the one that shot her. The picture taken of them appears to be right before she tried to breach the window.
