I don't have a WaPo account but if I disable javascript in ublock origin I get their full articles without working pictures.

Thank you for the link.

It's pretty much what I thought: It looks as if the Trump administration is throttling how much of the vaccine each state gets. California's allocation alone got slashed 40 percent from what we were originally promised.

States report confusion as government reduces vaccine shipments, while Pfizer says it has ‘millions’ of unclaimed doses - Washington Post

Can someone with a WaPo account Evernote this article? I couldn't get very far in before it paywalled me.

For WaPo, I right-click and do "save link as", then open the downloaded file. For the New York Times "open in new private window" works. I use Firefox with NoScript & Ublock Origin. Not sure if that affects the work-arounds.

the photo shows people crowded in the queue waiting to be vaccinated...
apart from the fact that (at least to me) it is not clear to what extent a vaccination can also fight an infection that happened shortly before... it would certainly be helpful if vaccinated people also internalised that they have to keep their distance. at least as long as it is not clarified whether vaccinated people can nevertheless transmit the virus...

But of course it's good to see so many people getting vaccinated.

I have noticed one little thing about opening WaPo and NY Times articles recently. Sometimes, even in incognito they weren't working or that after disabling scripts it would load a partial page? So....I double checked the noscript option and noticed that it wouldn't work on a reload. To fix that, there's a little lock on the upper left that says (make this change permanent) and THAT did the trick for all future links to those sites. It will only affect those sites. Now, they work without going incognito. The other thing is that you can enable UBlock Origin to function while in incognito as well. That is done under extension settings/details/allow in incognito.

Note that I am using UBlock Origin Development Build because awhile back YouTube was doing some funky things whereby it was loading a white page, what appeared to be an ad that sometimes never would finish loading. Development build took care of that problem.

I think that's almost certainly an effect of the focus and camera position and angle.

Certainly whenever I've attended a clinic or my local medical centre this year, they've been meticulous about social distancing and other precautions, and I cannot believe the NHS would arrange a photo-op for the vaccination of the most vulnerable cohort of the population without taking every possible precaution against infection.

Unless Chris Grayling were involved, of course, but he wasn't, as far we know.

I have a friend who told me that there is a health care worker in Ohio who was one of the first to receive the vaccine, and agreed to be monitored via a live stream camera for several days, so that folks could see in real time what her side effects were. My friend said that the nurse has gotten sick and the stream has been cut off.

Now I have no idea if this is true or not. I cannot find anything on it in my googling. Does anybody else know anything about this? I'm thinking maybe she saw it on FB, so am not believing any of it until confirmed by other sources.

How was she said to have been monitored for this live-stream?

Did she have someone with a camera following her round at work as she and her colleagues tried to nurse patients, and then going home with her after work to live stream her and her family (if she has one) when she was trying to relax, and following her round the supermarket and so on?

Sounds a bit improbable to me.

A google search for "health care worker covid vaccination live stream" produced some hits about a handful of health care workers in the US and UK experiencing extreme allergic reactions to the vaccination (which was already a known issue), though none in Ohio that I could see, so I suspect the story may be a garbled version of that.

Concidering that the way the vaccine works involves making your body attack the new protein spikes it is making, I'd expect to be sick - just not seriously. If I understand it right, its not usually the virus that makes people sick, its when the body goes into war mode that we feel like crap. [Not a doctor]

I agree. A vaccination makes your body react to something.
Half of the time when I get my yearly flue shot, I'm not at my best the first few days that follow. Not really sick, but I notice the differences, like being tired or a bit listless.

Yeah, even if this story is real, there are several explanations for anyone falling ill after the vaccination:

1. They are reacting appropriately to the vaccine and will be fine
2. They were already harboring COVID-19 and the vaccine was too late to help them (it takes awhile for the immunity to kick in)
3. They were getting sick from something that had absolutely nothing to do with coronavirus, because at any given time, a lot of people get sick from something
