Live from Trump's latest press conference:

There's an actual parody now:

Personally I was trying to figure out which Trump lackeys would be Keitel, Jodl, Krebs and Burghdof. I'm thinking the Secretary of Defense is Jodl.

I wonder how many of those dead from Covid would have voted for him? It would be ... interesting ... if he would have won, otherwise. Probably not, but anyone want to do the math?

I have to admit I am out here being petty as fuck, and I'm loving it.
I can't find the exact Tweet, but I'm on Twitter semi-timeout now for my response to a Tweet about Rick Santorum's statement...like this one.

And all I did was say some of the same things which were said to me back in 2016. Was that so wrong? :devilish: Apparently, the Twitter gods thought so. I didn't even get to actually post the Tweet before they limited me for 12 hours.

I think that we have to give it up to black folks, especially black women, also latinos in the SW. They delivered. They gave us a victory (still assuming one). This has come down to more than a few black-majority cities. Cities who have been targeted for all sorts of disenfranchisment, removal of polling locations and other dastardly behaviors.

Watching these white people attempting to take away their votes, even now by storming counting centers, planning to shoot up others and fuckface's legal moves is disgusting.

White people almost gave us Trump again. Black and latino folks saved us. We owe a debt of gratitude.
Agree, except for the 30% of Latinos who unfathomably handed Texas to Trump.

Are there no trans people and their friends and relatives amongst the "working poor" in Germany, then?
Of course there are. But if you are really poor, and struggle to make it from month to month, to pay the electriticy bill and your rent, to be able to get food, get the healthcare you need, such topics as gender identitity/equality/inclusion etc., which became the pet peeves and main priority of the German left party and in many other Western countries as well, become low priority for yourself really really fast. First many people only care about satisfying their basic needs, if that goal has been met they start more caring about this stuff. So yes, if you are really poor these topics are often viewed as unimportant luxury problems by many of the affected people, because they got more pressing problems they need to solve first and they expect answers from the Left on it. And these pressing problems were the original reason why often Left parties came into existence, making up their core topics.

Or to say it with an idiom by Bertolt Brecht: "Erst kommt das Fressen, dann die Moral."

The left in Germany has abandoned big parts of their former main base, and not only there. This happened because they had an influx of wealthy enough "lifestyle leftists", who care about these topics more than people who have to struggle day by day to make it, people who like the idea that they might be left but not really are. People, who also quite often have a deeply running distaste for the real poor the party originally cared about.

The result is that the poorer main base of the former left does mostly feel abandoned, not understood and cared for anymore, homeless and betrayed, because they don't care about gender topics much. They want answers from the Left on the typical Left topics like payable room to live, having a somewhat good paid and secure job, good access to health care and such. So when the Left becomes more interested in lifestyle topics and the original topics it is like McDonald's suddenly selling no meat any longer over night. You can do it, but you do loose a vast amount of your original customers, and that's exactly what has happened in Europe in many countries.

So these political homeless now often go straight from extreme left to extreme right, and that's entirely the Left's fault. First do your homework well enough, then other stuff is no problem. Quite often though the Left cannot understand why their supposed main supporters are voting on the wrong end of the spectrum, some even putting the blame on the voters instead of analyzing their own errors, often convinced that there's nothing wrong with them. Which in the end leads in the long run to their even further demise.

I'm not familiar with the German political scene, so I don't know what's been happening there, but in the UK trans rights aren't really a hot political issue between the parties, any more than was same sex marriage. It was David Cameron, after all, who introduced marriage equality, and Theresa May's Conservative government who were trying to relax the rules on how people can change their official gender.

It would have been a big issue 25 or 30 years ago, just as it would have been a big deal to have both a Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer whose parents would once have been called "East African Asians," but not any more.

Indeed. What's even scarier is that it's extremely doubtful that anyone is at all prepared to deal with the fall out of a presidential tantrum.

I don't think they even fully understand the problem. My friend thinks he'll go after liberals, democrats and journalists.

No -that's way too limited. He's going to go full Sampson. He'll do whatever is in his power to cause as much damage to the whole nation as he can on his way out of the door.

"If I can't have America -no one can", basically.

I don't know what he'll specifically do, but I'm sure his good buddy Putin is offering him plenty of suggestions ...
